Mac Warner
Mac Warner (Republican Party) is the West Virginia Secretary of State. He assumed office on January 16, 2017. His current term ends on January 13, 2025.
Warner (Republican Party) ran for election for Governor of West Virginia. He lost in the Republican primary on May 14, 2024.
Biography
Mac Warner was born in West Virginia and graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. Warner served in the Army for 23 years as a JAG Corps officer. In Afghanistan, Warner ran an office in charge of mentoring senior government officials in rule of law.
Warner received his J.D. from West Virginia University, a master's degree in military law from the Army Judge Advocate General's school, and a master's degree in international law from the University of Virginia.[1]

Political career
West Virginia Secretary of State (2017 - Present)
Warner was elected West Virginia secretary of state on November 8, 2016. He assumed office on January 16, 2017.[2]
June 2017 request for voter rolls
On June 29, 2017, the Presidential Advisory Commission on Election Integrity, which had been created by President Donald Trump on May 11, requested information on registered voters from all 50 states dating back to 2006. The states were given until July 14 to respond. On July 10, Secretary Warner announced that the state would provide only publicly available information to the commission.

He defeated manufacturing operations manager Barry Holstein (R) in the May 10 Republican primary election.
