Ryana Parks-Shaw is a member of the Kansas City City Council, representing District 5. She assumed office on August 1, 2019. Her current term ends on August 1, 2027.

Parks-Shaw ran for re-election to the Kansas City City Council to represent District 5. She won in the general election on June 20, 2023.

Although city council offices are officially nonpartisan, Parks-Shaw is a member of the Democratic Party. She was a Democratic candidate who sought election to the Missouri House of Representatives to represent District 30. Parks-Shaw lost the general election on November 6, 2018, after advancing from the primary on August 7, 2018.

Decision to self-quarantine for coronavirus on March 18, 2020

Parks-Shaw, along with five other Kansas City Council members, including Eric Bunch and Dan Fowler, were self-quarantined after two council members were informed that might have been exposed to coronavirus after attending a conference for city leaders in Washington D.C.[1]
