Vision Of The Lord's Glory
4 And I look, and lo, a tempestuous wind is coming from the north, a great cloud, and fire catching itself, and brightness to it round about, and out of its midst as the colour of copper, out of the midst of the fire.
4 And I looked, and, behold, a whirlwind came out of the north, a great cloud, and a fire infolding itself, and a brightness was about it, and out of the midst thereof as the colour of amber, out of the midst of the fire.
4 As I looked, behold, a (H)storm wind was coming from the north, a great cloud with fire flashing forth continually and a bright light around it, and in its midst something like (I)glowing metal in the midst of the fire.
4 I looked and there was a whirlwind(I) coming from the north, a great cloud with fire flashing back and forth and brilliant light all around it. In the center of the fire, there was a gleam like amber.(J)
4 I was amazed to see a wind storm blow in from the north, consisting of a massive cloud and fire that was flashing back and forth, surrounded by bright light. From deep within the cloud, something was shining that appeared to have a color like bronze that had been placed in fire until it glowed.
5 And out of its midst is a likeness of four living creatures, and this is their appearance; a likeness of man is to them,
5 Also out of the midst thereof came the likeness of four living creatures. And this was their appearance; they had the likeness of a man.
5 Within it there were figures resembling (J)four living beings. And this was their appearance: they had human (K)form.
5 The form of four living creatures came from it.(K) And this was their appearance: They had human form,
5 Deep inside it, the likenesses of four living beings were visible. Their appearances were similar to human forms,
7 and their feet are straight feet, and the sole of their feet is as a sole of a calf's foot, and they are sparkling as the colour of bright brass;
7 And their feet were straight feet; and the sole of their feet was like the sole of a calf's foot: and they sparkled like the colour of burnished brass.
7 Their legs were straight and (c)their feet were like a calf’s hoof, and they gleamed like (N)burnished bronze.
7 Their legs were straight, and the soles of their feet were like the hooves of a calf, sparkling like the gleam of polished bronze.(L)
7 and straight legs. Their feet resembled calves' hooves, but they gleamed like polished bronze.
8 and hands of man under their wings -- on their four sides, and their faces and their wings -- are to them four;
8 And they had the hands of a man under their wings on their four sides; and they four had their faces and their wings.
8 Under their wings on their (O)four sides were human (P)hands. As for the faces and wings of the four of them,
8 They had human hands under their wings on their four sides.(M) All four of them had faces and wings.(N)
8 From under their wings there were human hands on their four sides.
9 joining one unto another are their wings, they turn not round in their going, each straight forward they go.
9 Their wings were joined one to another; they turned not when they went; they went every one straight forward.
9 their wings touched one another; their faces did (Q)not turn when they moved, each (R)went straight forward.
9 Their wings were touching. The creatures did not turn as they moved; each one went straight ahead.(O)
9 Now as to their four faces and four pairs of wings, their pairs of wings overlapped each other. They moved in straight directions without turning their faces around as they moved.
10 As to the likeness of their faces, the face of a man, and the face of a lion, toward the right are to them four, and the face of an ox on the left are to them four, and the face of an eagle are to them four.
10 As for the likeness of their faces, they four had the face of a man, and the face of a lion, on the right side: and they four had the face of an ox on the left side; they four also had the face of an eagle.
10 As for the (S)form of their faces, each had the (T)face of a man; (d)all four had the face of a lion on the right and the face of a bull on the left, and (e)all four had the face of an eagle.
10 The form of each of their faces was that of a man,(P) and each of the four had the face of a lion on the right, the face of an ox on the left, and the face of an eagle.(Q)
10 The form of their faces was human, but each of the four also had the face of a lion to the right, the face of an ox to the left, and the face of an eagle behind them.
11 And their faces and their wings are separate from above, to each are two joining together, and two are covering their bodies.
11 Thus were their faces: and their wings were stretched upward; two wings of every one were joined one to another, and two covered their bodies.
11 Such were their faces. Their wings were spread out above; each had two touching another being, and (U)two covering their bodies.
11 That is what their faces were like. Their wings were spread upward; each had two wings touching that of another and two wings covering its body.(R)
11 That's what their faces were like. Their wings spread out above and around them, one pair overlapping another, with one pair covering themselves.
12 And each straight forward they go, whither the spirit is to go, they go, they turn not round in their going.
12 And they went every one straight forward: whither the spirit was to go, they went; and they turned not when they went.
12 And (V)each went straight forward; (W)wherever the spirit was about to go, they would go, without turning as they went.
12 Each creature went straight ahead.(S) Wherever the Spirit(a) wanted to go, they went without turning as they moved.(T)
12 Each moved in straight directions. Wherever they decided to go, they went without turning themselves.
13 As to the likeness of the living creatures, their appearances are as coals of fire -- burning as the appearance of lamps; it is going up and down between the living creatures, and brightness is to the fire, and out of the fire is going forth lightning.
13 As for the likeness of the living creatures, their appearance was like burning coals of fire, and like the appearance of lamps: it went up and down among the living creatures; and the fire was bright, and out of the fire went forth lightning.
13 (f)In the midst of the living beings there was something that looked like burning coals of (X)fire, (g)like torches darting back and forth among the living beings. The fire was bright, and lightning was (h)flashing from the fire.
13 The form of the living creatures was like the appearance of burning coals of fire and torches.(U) Fire was moving back and forth between the living creatures; it was bright, with lightning coming out of it.
13 Now, in the midst of the living beings there was something that appeared to glow like coals kindled by a fire, like torches that moved back and forth between the living beings. The fire was dazzling, and lightning flashed from the fire.
15 And I see the living creatures, and lo, one wheel is in the earth, near the living creatures, at its four faces.
15 Now as I beheld the living creatures, behold one wheel upon the earth by the living creatures, with his four faces.
15 Now as I looked at the living beings, behold, there was one (AA)wheel on the earth beside the living beings, (i)for each of the four of them.
15 When I looked at the living creatures, there was one wheel on the ground beside each creature that had four faces.
15 As I observed the living beings, I noticed one wheel on the earth beside each being that is, for the four of them.
16 The appearance of the wheels and their works is as the colour of beryl, and one likeness is to them four, and their appearances and their works are as it were the wheel in the midst of the wheel.
16 The appearance of the wheels and their work was like unto the colour of a beryl: and they four had one likeness: and their appearance and their work was as it were a wheel in the middle of a wheel.
16 The (AB)appearance of the wheels and their workmanship was like (j)sparkling (AC)beryl, and all four of them had the same form, their appearance and workmanship being as if (k)one wheel were within another.
16 The appearance of the wheels(X) and their craftsmanship was like the gleam of beryl,(Y) and all four had the same form. Their appearance and craftsmanship was like a wheel within a wheel.
16 Their wheels and their construction details looked like gold-colored beryl. Each wheel was identical in form to the others, and they appeared to have been constructed and designed as if one wheel were within another.
17 On their four sides, in their going they go, they turn not round in their going.
17 When they went, they went upon their four sides: and they turned not when they went.
17 Whenever they (l)moved, they (m)moved in any of their four (n)directions without (AD)turning as they (o)moved.
17 When they moved, they went in any of the four directions, without pivoting as they moved.
17 Whenever the four moved, no matter which of four directions, they moved without turning around.
18 As to their rings, they are both high and fearful, and their rings are full of eyes round about them four.
18 As for their rings, they were so high that they were dreadful; and their rings were full of eyes round about them four.
18 As for their rims they were lofty and awesome, and the rims of all four of them were (AE)full of eyes round about.
18 Their wheel rims were ornate and terrifying. They were full of eyes that surrounded the four of them.
19 And in the going of the living creatures, the wheels go beside them, and in the living creatures being lifted up from off the earth, lifted up are the wheels.
19 And when the living creatures went, the wheels went by them: and when the living creatures were lifted up from the earth, the wheels were lifted up.
19 (AF)Whenever the living beings (p)moved, the wheels (q)moved with them. And whenever the living beings (AG)rose from the earth, the wheels rose also.
19 So when the living creatures moved,(AA) the wheels moved beside them, and when the creatures rose from the earth, the wheels also rose.
19 Whenever the living beings moved, the wheels moved, too. Whenever the living beings rose from the earth, the wheels rose also.
20 Whither the spirit is to go, they go, thither the spirit is to go, and the wheels are lifted up over-against them, for a living spirit is in the wheels.
20 Whithersoever the spirit was to go, they went, thither was their spirit to go; and the wheels were lifted up over against them: for the spirit of the living creature was in the wheels.
20 (AH)Wherever the spirit was about to go, they would go in that direction(r). And the wheels rose close beside them; for the spirit of the living (s)beings was in the wheels.
20 Wherever the Spirit(b) wanted to go, the creatures went in the direction the Spirit was moving. The wheels rose alongside them, for the spirit of the living creatures was in the wheels.
20 Whatever direction these spirits went, the wheels would be lifted up along with them, because the wheels were alive.
21 In their going, they go; and in their standing, they stand; and in their being lifted up from off the earth, lifted up are the wheels over-against them; for a living spirit is in the wheels.
21 When those went, these went; and when those stood, these stood; and when those were lifted up from the earth, the wheels were lifted up over against them: for the spirit of the living creature was in the wheels.
21 (AI)Whenever those went, these went; and whenever those stood still, these stood still. And whenever those rose from the earth, the wheels rose close beside them; for the spirit of the living (t)beings was in the wheels.
21 When the creatures moved, the wheels moved; when the creatures stood still, the wheels stood still; and when the creatures rose from the earth, the wheels rose alongside them, for the spirit of the living creatures was in the wheels.
21 They moved around whenever they wanted to move around, and they stood still whenever they wanted to stand still; and whenever they rose from the earth, the wheels remained close beside them, because the wheels were also alive.
22 And a likeness is over the heads of the living creatures of an expanse, as the colour of the fearful ice, stretched out over their heads from above.
22 And the likeness of the firmament upon the heads of the living creature was as the colour of the terrible crystal, stretched forth over their heads above.
22 Now (AJ)over the heads of the living (u)beings there was something like an expanse, like the awesome gleam of (v)crystal, spread out over their heads.
22 The shape of an expanse,(AB) with a gleam like awe-inspiring crystal,(AC) was spread out over the heads of the living creatures.(AD)
22 There was spread out over the heads of the living beings what looked like a canopy, in outward appearance resembling ice,
23 And under the expanse their wings are straight, one toward the other, to each are two covering on this side, and to each are two covering on that side -- their bodies.
23 And under the firmament were their wings straight, the one toward the other: every one had two, which covered on this side, and every one had two, which covered on that side, their bodies.
23 Under the expanse their wings were stretched out straight, one toward the other; each one also had (AK)two wings covering its body on the one side and on the other.
23 And under the expanse their wings extended one toward another. Each of them also had two wings covering their bodies.
23 and underneath the canopy, their wings spread out straight over their heads toward each other. They each also had two wings with which they covered themselves, one wing covering its body on one side and one wing covering itself on the other side.
24 And I hear the noise of their wings, as the noise of many waters, as the noise of the Mighty One, in their going -- the noise of tumult, as the noise of a camp, in their standing they let fall their wings.
24 And when they went, I heard the noise of their wings, like the noise of great waters, as the voice of the Almighty, the voice of speech, as the noise of an host: when they stood, they let down their wings.
24 I also heard the sound of their wings like the (AL)sound of abundant waters as they went, like the (AM)voice of (w)the Almighty, a sound of tumult like the (AN)sound of an army camp; whenever they stood still, they dropped their wings.
24 When they moved, I heard the sound of their wings like the roar of mighty waters,(AE) like the voice of the Almighty,(AF) and a sound of commotion like the noise of an army.(AG) When they stood still, they lowered their wings.
24 I also heard the sound of their wings, like the sound of roaring water, like the voice of the Almighty, or like a boisterous crowd within an army camp. Whenever they stopped flying, they lowered their wings.
25 And there is a voice from above the expanse, that is above their head: in their standing they let fall their wings.
25 And there was a voice from the firmament that was over their heads, when they stood, and had let down their wings.
25 And there came a voice from above the (AO)expanse that was over their heads; whenever they stood still, they dropped their wings.
25 A voice came from above the expanse over their heads; when they stood still, they lowered their wings.
25 A sound came from above the canopy that was spread out over their heads. Whenever they stood still, they lowered their wings.
26 And above the expanse that is over their head, as an appearance of a sapphire stone, is the likeness of a throne, and on the likeness of the throne a likeness, as the appearance of man upon it from above.
26 And above the firmament that was over their heads was the likeness of a throne, as the appearance of a sapphire stone: and upon the likeness of the throne was the likeness as the appearance of a man above upon it.
26 Now (AP)above the expanse that was over their heads there was something (AQ)resembling a throne, like (x)(AR)lapis lazuli in appearance; and on that which resembled a throne, high up, was a figure with the appearance of a (AS)man.
26 The shape of a throne with the appearance of sapphire(c) stone was above the expanse.(d)(AH) There was a form with the appearance of a human on the throne high above.(AI)
26 From above the canopy that was spread out over their heads, there appeared to be something reminiscent of a throne, resembling sapphire in form.
27 And I see as the colour of copper, as the appearance of fire within it round about, from the appearance of his loins and upward, and from the appearance of his loins and downward, I have seen as the appearance of fire, and brightness is to it round about.
27 And I saw as the colour of amber, as the appearance of fire round about within it, from the appearance of his loins even upward, and from the appearance of his loins even downward, I saw as it were the appearance of fire, and it had brightness round about.
27 Then I (y)noticed from the appearance of His loins and upward something (AT)like (z)glowing metal that looked like fire all around within it, and from the appearance of His loins and downward I saw something like fire; and there was a radiance around Him.
27 From what seemed to be His waist up, I saw a gleam like amber, with what looked like fire enclosing it all around.(AJ) From what seemed to be His waist down, I also saw what looked like fire. There was a brilliant light all around Him.
27 There was the likeness of the appearance of a human being seated on the likeness of the throne high above. I noticed that from what appeared to look like his waist upward there was something that looked like metal that glowed as if it were immersed in fire. Below this there was something resembling fire, with a radiant light surrounding him.
28 As the appearance of the bow that is in a cloud in a day of rain, so is the appearance of the brightness round about.
28 As the appearance of the bow that is in the cloud in the day of rain, so was the appearance of the brightness round about. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD. And when I saw it, I fell upon my face, and I heard a voice of one that spake.
28 As the appearance of the (AU)rainbow (aa)in the clouds on a rainy day, so was the appearance of the surrounding radiance. Such was the appearance of the likeness of the (AV)glory of the Lord. And when I saw it, I (AW)fell on my face and heard a voice speaking.
28 The appearance of the brilliant light all around was like that of a rainbow in a cloud on a rainy day.(AK) This was the appearance of the form of the Lord’s glory.(AL) When I saw it, I fell facedown and heard a voice speaking.(AM)
28 The appearance of the radiant light resembled that of a rainbow shining in a cloud on a rainy day. This was what the appearance of the form of the glory of the LORD resembled. When I saw all of this, I fell flat on my face. Then I heard a voice speaking.
