Presently Jesus began to speak to them in parables. "There was once a man," he said, "who planted a vineyard, put a fence around it, dug a pit for the wine-press, built a tower, rented it to tenants, and went abroad. At vintage-time he sent a slave to the vine-dressers to collect some of the proceeds of the vineyard;
What will the owner of the Vineyard do?" "He will come and put the tenants to death," they said, "and will give the vineyard to others."
Then he began to tell the people this parable. "There was a man who planted a vineyard, and let it out to vine-dressers, and went to another country for a long time. "At harvest-time he sent a slave to the vine-dressers, to ask them to give him a share of the crop; but the vine-dresser beat him and sent him away empty-handed.
"He will come and destroy those vine-dressers, and will give the vineyard to others."

But if any one fails to provide for his own, and especially for his kindred, he has denied the faith and is worse than an infidel.

There are others who are 'sown among thorns.' When they have heard the Word, the anxieties of life and the snares of wealth, and all sorts of other ambitions, come in to choke the Word, so that it proves unfruitful.
"And that which fell upon thorns is those who have heard, but as they go on their way of word is choked with the cares and riches and pleasures of life; so they bring no fruit of perfection.
But Martha meanwhile was growing distracted about much serving. She came up to him and said: "Lord do you not care that my sister has left me alone to do the serving? Come tell her to take hold of her end of the work along with me." "Martha, Martha," said Jesus, "you are anxious and worried about many things, "only one thing is really necessary. Mary, moreover, has chosen that good part which shall not be taken away from her."
"But take heed to yourselves lest your hearts be surcharged with self-indulgence and drunkenness and worldly cares, and that day catches you suddenly like a trap.
So I want you to be free from all anxieties. An unmarried man is anxious about the Lord's business, how he may please the Lord; but a married man is anxious about worldly affairs, how he may please his wife, and he is divided in his mind. Again, the woman who is widow, or the maid, is anxious about the Lord's business, how she may be pure in body and in mind; but the married woman is anxious about worldly affairs, how she may please her husband.
"Come unto me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. "Take my yoke upon you and learn of me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
"And when they are bringing you before the synagogues and the rulers and authorities, do not worry about how or what you shall answer; or what you shall say; "for the Holy Spirit will teach you in that hour what you ought to say."
