For many walk, of whom I often said to you, and now say even weeping, that they are enemies of the cross of the Christ,

for a great and effective door is opened to me, and there are many adversaries.

As it respects the gospel, they are enemies of God for your sakes; but as it respects their election, they are beloved for the fathers sakes:

said: full of all deceit and all wickedness, child of the devil, enemy of all righteousness, will you not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord?
