The words of a gossip are like dainty morsels: they go down into a person's innermost parts.

But this happened so that the word may be fulfilled which was written in their law, 'They hated me without a cause.'

They reward me evil for good, to the bereaving of my soul.

They who also render evil for good are adversaries to me, because I follow what is good.

For evildoers shall be cut off, but those who wait for Yahweh shall inherit the land.

Who will rise up for me against the wicked? Who will stand up for me against the evildoers?

Therefore the Lord will not rejoice over their young men, neither will he have compassion on their fatherless and widows; for everyone is profane and an evildoer, and every mouth speaks folly. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.

According to what I have seen, those who plow iniquity, and sow trouble, reap the same.

For they sow the wind, and they will reap the whirlwind. He has no standing grain. The stalk will yield no head. If it does yield, strangers will swallow it up.

He who sows wickedness reaps trouble, and the rod of his fury will be destroyed.

For he who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption. But he who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.

A good man shall obtain favor from Yahweh, but he will condemn a man of wicked devices.

Yahweh brings the counsel of the nations to nothing. He makes the thoughts of the peoples to be of no effect.

but when this became known to the king, he commanded by letters that his wicked device, which he had devised against the Jews, should return on his own head, and that he and his sons should be hanged on the gallows.

He frustrates the devices of the crafty, So that their hands can't perform their enterprise.

In the fourth generation they will come here again, for the iniquity of the Amorite is not yet full."

This is an evil in all that is done under the sun, that there is one event to all: yes also, the heart of the sons of men is full of evil, and madness is in their heart while they live, and after that they go to the dead.

I will silence whoever secretly slanders his neighbor. I won't tolerate one who is haughty and conceited.

Take heed everyone of his neighbor, and don't trust in any brother; for every brother will utterly supplant, and every neighbor will go about with slanders.

For I have heard the slander of many, terror on every side, while they conspire together against me, they plot to take away my life.

He who hides hatred has lying lips. He who utters a slander is a fool.

With his mouth the godless man destroys his neighbor, but the righteous will be delivered through knowledge.

concerning zeal, persecuting the assembly; concerning the righteousness which is in the law, found blameless.

Punishing them often in all the synagogues, I tried to make them blaspheme. Being exceedingly enraged against them, I persecuted them even to foreign cities.

Their hands are on that which is evil to do it diligently. The ruler and judge ask for a bribe; and the powerful man dictates the evil desire of his soul. Thus they conspire together.

For you have heard of my way of living in time past in the Jews' religion, how that beyond measure I persecuted the assembly of God, and ravaged it.

For if a man sees you who have knowledge sitting in an idol's temple, won't his conscience, if he is weak, be emboldened to eat things sacrificed to idols?

One who walks with wise men grows wise, but a companion of fools suffers harm.

shall we again break your commandments, and join in affinity with the peoples that do these abominations? Wouldn't you be angry with us until you had consumed us, so that there should be no remnant, nor any to escape?

Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

He who says to the wicked, "You are righteous;" peoples shall curse him, and nations shall abhor him -- but it will go well with those who convict the guilty, and a rich blessing will come on them.

You have wearied Yahweh with your words. Yet you say, 'How have we wearied him?' In that you say, 'Everyone who does evil is good in the sight of Yahweh, and he delights in them;' or 'Where is the God of justice?'

Remind them to be in subjection to rulers and to authorities, to be obedient, to be ready for every good work, to speak evil of no one, not to be contentious, to be gentle, showing all humility toward all men.

You, son of man, set your face against the daughters of your people, who prophesy out of their own heart; and prophesy against them, and say, Thus says the Lord Yahweh: Woe to the women who sew pillows on all elbows, and make kerchiefs for the head of [persons of] every stature to hunt souls! Will you hunt the souls of my people, and save souls alive for yourselves? You have profaned me among my people for handfuls of barley and for pieces of bread, to kill the souls who should not die, and to save the souls alive who should not live, by your lying to my people who listen to lies. read more.

Wisdom calls aloud in the street. She utters her voice in the public squares. She calls at the head of noisy places. At the entrance of the city gates, she utters her words: "How long, you simple ones, will you love simplicity? Turn at my reproof. Behold, I will pour out my spirit on you. I will make known my words to you. For the backsliding of the simple will kill them. The careless ease of fools will destroy them. But whoever listens to me will dwell securely, and will be at ease, without fear of harm."

No mischief shall happen to the righteous, but the wicked shall be filled with evil.

The fear of Yahweh leads to life, then contentment; he rests and will not be touched by trouble.

He who is truly righteous gets life. He who pursues evil gets death.

Their feet run to evil, and they make haste to shed innocent blood: their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity; desolation and destruction are in their paths. The way of peace they don't know; and there is no justice in their goings: they have made them crooked paths; whoever goes therein does not know peace.

But there was none like Ahab, who sold himself to do that which was evil in the sight of Yahweh, whom Jezebel his wife stirred up.

Thus says Yahweh, "Keep justice, and do righteousness; for my salvation is near to come, and my righteousness to be revealed. Blessed is the man who does this, and the son of man who holds it fast; who keeps the Sabbath from profaning it, and keeps his hand from doing any evil."

Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor that which is evil. Cling to that which is good.

Hate evil, love good, and establish justice in the courts. It may be that Yahweh, the God of Armies, will be gracious to the remnant of Joseph."

The wicked desires the plunder of evil men, but the root of the righteous flourishes.

The soul of the wicked desires evil; his neighbor finds no mercy in his eyes.

Don't be deceived! "Evil companionships corrupt good morals."

For neither were we at any time found using words of flattery, as you know, nor a cloak of covetousness (God is witness),
