Let no one deceive you with empty words; for, because of these things, comes the wrath of God upon the sons of disobedience.
Let no one rob you of your prize, wishing to do it in humility and in a worshipping of angels, speculating about the things which he has seen, being vainly puffed up by the mind of his flesh,
Of these things put them in remembrance, solemnly charging them before God, that they engage not in word-battles to no profit, to the subverting of those who hear.
For, uttering great swelling words of vanity, they entice, in desires of the flesh, by their lasciviousness, those just escaping from those who live in error;
I am the vine, ye are the branches. He that abides in Me, and I in him, the same bears much fruit; because, apart from Me, ye can do nothing.
And, if any one builds on the foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; the work of each one shall be made manifest; for the day shall declare it, because it is revealed in fire; and the fire itself will prove each one's work, of what sort it is. When any one hears the word of the Kingdom, and understands it not, the evil one comes, and snatches away what has been sown in his heart: this is he that was sown by the wayside. And he that was sown on the rocky places, this is he who hears the word, and straightway with joy receives it; yet he has not root in himself, but is only temporary; and, when tribulation or persecution arises because of the word, straightway he stumbles.read more.
And he that was sown among the thorns, this is he that hears the word; and the anxiety of the age and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful.
And become doers of the word, and not hearers only, deluding yourselves. Because, if anyone is a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like a man beholding his natural face in a mirror; for he observed himself, and went away, and straightway he forgot what manner of man he was.
But are you willing to know, O vain man, that faith apart from works is worthless?
and have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather even reprove them;
knowing that, not with perishable things, with silver or gold, were ye redeemed from your vain course of life handed down from your fathers;
If, therefore, one fully purify himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honor, sanctified, serviceable to the Master, prepared for every good work.
