Unless the Lord had shortened those days, no life would have been saved; but for the sake of the elect, whom He chose, He shortened the days.

The Lord is my strength and my shield;
My heart trusts in Him, and I am helped;
Therefore my heart exults,
And with my song I shall thank Him.

O my strength, I will sing praises to You;
For God is my stronghold, the God who shows me lovingkindness.

Then David said to the Philistine, “You come to me with a sword, a spear, and a javelin, but I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have taunted.

“The eternal God is a dwelling place,
And underneath are the everlasting arms;
And He drove out the enemy from before you,
And said, ‘Destroy!’

So they will fear the name of the Lord from the west
And His glory from the rising of the sun,
For He will come like a rushing stream
Which the wind of the Lord drives.

"When you go out to battle against your enemies and see horses and chariots and people more numerous than you, do not be afraid of them; for the LORD your God, who brought you up from the land of Egypt, is with you. Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you entirely; and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved complete, without blame at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Faithful is He who calls you, and He also will bring it to pass.

But the Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen and protect you from the evil one.

In the fear of the Lord there is strong confidence,
And his children will have refuge.

Each will be like a refuge from the wind
And a shelter from the storm,
Like streams of water in a dry country,
Like the shade of a huge rock in a parched land.

There will be a shelter to give shade from the heat by day, and refuge and protection from the storm and the rain.

When you lie down, you will not be afraid;
When you lie down, your sleep will be sweet.

In peace I will both lie down and sleep,
For You alone, O Lord, make me to dwell in safety.

I lay down and slept;
I awoke, for the Lord sustains me.

The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer,
My God, my rock, in whom I take refuge;
My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.

For our shield belongs to the Lord,
And our king to the Holy One of Israel.

He only is my rock and my salvation,
My stronghold; I shall not be greatly shaken.

“They lift it upon the shoulder and carry it;
They set it in its place and it stands there.
It does not move from its place.
Though one may cry to it, it cannot answer;
It cannot deliver him from his distress.

Let them rise up and help you, Let them be your hiding place! 'See now that I, I am He, And there is no god besides Me; It is I who put to death and give life I have wounded and it is I who heal, And there is no one who can deliver from My hand.

And He has said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.” Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me.

and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand. "My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand. "I and the Father are one."

No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it.

then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from temptation, and to keep the unrighteous under punishment for the day of judgment,

For the eyes of the Lord move to and fro throughout the earth that He may strongly support those whose heart is completely His. You have acted foolishly in this. Indeed, from now on you will surely have wars.”

Those who trust in the LORD Are as Mount Zion, which cannot be moved but abides forever. As the mountains surround Jerusalem, So the LORD surrounds His people From this time forth and forever.

He who trusts in his riches will fall,
But the righteous will flourish like the green leaf.

Riches do not profit in the day of wrath,
But righteousness delivers from death.

“He keeps the feet of His godly ones,

A horse is a false hope for victory;

God, in her palaces,
Has made Himself known as a stronghold.

The king is not saved by a mighty army;
A warrior is not delivered by great strength.

They came out, they and all their armies with them, as many people as the sand that is on the seashore, with very many horses and chariots. God is our refuge and strength,
A very present help in trouble.

The Lord also will be a stronghold for the oppressed,
A stronghold in times of trouble;

Our soul waits for the Lord;
He is our help and our shield.

Because of his strength I will watch for You, For God is my stronghold. My God in His lovingkindness will meet me; God will let me look triumphantly upon my foes.
