'Monster' in the Bible
“Am I the sea, or the sea monster,That You set a guard over me?
The desert creatures will meet with the wolves,The hairy goat also will cry to its kind;Yes, the night monster will settle thereAnd will find herself a resting place.
“Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon has devoured me and crushed me,He has set me down like an empty vessel; He has swallowed me like a monster,He has filled his stomach with my delicacies; He has washed me away.
Speak and say, ‘Thus says the Lord God,“Behold, I am against you, Pharaoh king of Egypt,The great monster that lies in the midst of his rivers,That has said, ‘My Nile is mine, and I myself have made it.’
“Son of man, take up a lamentation over Pharaoh king of Egypt and say to him,‘You compared yourself to a young lion of the nations,Yet you are like the monster in the seas; And you burst forth in your riversAnd muddied the waters with your feetAnd fouled their rivers.’”
for just as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the sea monster, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
