Larissa (/ləˈrɪsə/; Greek: Λάρισα, Lárisa, [ˈlarisa]) is the capital and largest city of the Thessaly region in Greece. It is the fifth-most populous city in Greece with a population of 144,651 according to the 2011 census. It is also capital of the Larissa regional unit. It is a principal agricultural centre and a national transport hub, linked by road and rail with the port of Volos, the cities of Thessaloniki and Athens. The municipality of Larissa has 162,591 inhabitants, while the regional unit of Larissa reached a population of 284,325 (in 2011).

Ve městě působí na nejvyšší úrovni fotbalový klub AE Larissa 1964, který v letech 1985 a 2007 získal vítězství v řeckém poháru a v roce 1988 vybojoval titul mistra Řecka. Ve městě sídlí lékařská fakulta Thesálské univerzity. Larisa má poměrně velké s vzletovou a přistávací dráhou o délce 2960 metrů. Letiště bylo založeno roku 1912 a až do roku 1997 odbavovalo kromě vojenských letů i civilní spoje. Nyní slouží pouze jako základna vojenského letectva. Z pozoruhodných míst Řecka jsou Larise nejblíže skalní kláštery Meteora, pohoří Olymp a slavné pláže Olympské riviéry. (cs)
