1.1 Montage
890 m (z.B.: 255 m Flche mal 3,5 m Raumhhe) betrgt.
5. Gefahrenabwehr Elektrik
Reihenfolge.
Das Reinigen der Filterpatrone im ausgebauten Zustand durch Ausblasen
oder Ausklopfen ist nicht zulssig.

Operating Instructions
GoodAire 1202
GoodAire 1202 BIA W3
09.04
Caution !
Do not operate this device before having
read these operating instructions first.
1.1 Mounting
Apart from connecting the device to the required electric power supply, no
other mounting and/or assembly works must be performed
The extraction arm (Art.-Nr.: ESC 305404) also supplied with the device is
plugged in the upright stand pipe mounted at the device and provided for this
purpose.
After mounting of the extraction arm in a safe manner, the sleeve fixed at the
hose is put into the aspiration mouth of the device.
The switch for turning the device on and off is fitted laterally at the device. By
pressing the green key of the switch, the device is put into operation. With
devices with an automatic cleaning facility (special equipment), the fan must
be turned on, turned off respectively, by means of the toggle switch provided
for this purpose.
Before putting the device into operation, a function test must be made first (in
accordance with the procedure to be performed every month).
1.3 Function
The GoodAire 1202 is equipped with an 1.1 kW electric motor that drives a
radial fan. A red / green coloured double pushbutton key serves to turn the
device on or off.
Due to the negative pressure produced by the fan, dust laden air is being
aspired through the extraction arm connected to the inlet duct of the device. A
filter located in the filter housing separates the welding fume from the aspired
air. Through the exhaust air slots provided for this purpose, the cleaned air is
being returned to the room again.
The BIA-tested W3 model version of the GoodAire 1202 (order no. ESC
305400), is equipped with a negative pressure detector that acts as a check
device which enables to check the minimum air flow rate to be monitored.
This check device measures the negative pressure that exists behind the
filter. With the increasing accumulation of dust at the filter, the flow resistance
of the filter increases and, consequently, the negative pressure existing
behind the filter too. If the corresponding pressure value set at the control
device beforehand is reached, an acoustic signal is activated to indicate that
the minimum air flow rate has decreased down to the limit value and that the
filter needs to be cleaned now.
The cleaning procedure frees the filter from dust and regenerates it. The dust
is collected in the collecting facility located in the filter housing. For disposal
of the extracted material, the opening flap at the filter housing must be
-4- State: 09.04
removed and a dust collecting bag be tied up to the opening and the filter
housing be folded down in forward direction, so that the collected dust can
drop into the bag. After refolding of the filter housing, the dust collecting bag
must be removed and closed. After refitting the opening flap at the filter
housing, the device is again ready for operation.
2. Specified application
W3 BIA-tests made
All devices bearing the type designation GoodAire 1202 BIA W3 are
equipped with an extraction arm and have been tested in regard to the dust
engineering requirements to be met according to standard EN ISO 15012-2
and do therefore meet with the dust engineering requirements specified by
the equipment safety law too.
All devices bearing the type designation GoodAire 1202 BIA W3 are not
subject to any application limits in regard to the extraction of welding fumes.
Basically, however, none of these device types must be applied for the
extraction of fumes produced when welding coated or oiled-up sheet metals.
The machine must not be used other than by persons trained in its use and
expressly authorized to do so.
The device must only be used for extracting / separating welding fumes and
must not be applied in the open. In any case however, all precautions must
be made to avoid that any liquids, aggressive gases, highly inflammable
media or glowing particles (smoulder spots and similar things) probably also
moved by the thermal ascending current of the fume can be aspired.
Any use of the device for the extraction of welding fumes produced during the
welding of oiled-up metals is prohibited ! Fire hazard !
Care must be taken to ensure that the collecting facility of the extraction arm
is always moved in such manner that it keeps track with the corresponding
welding area.
Care must be taken to ensure that the mains connecting lead cannot be run
over by a vehicle, pinched, strained or otherwise damaged in any similar way.
The mains connecting lead must be regularly inspected for signs of damage or
ageing.
The machine must not be used if the condition of the mains connecting lead is
suspect in any way.
Replacement of the mains connecting lead and plug must not be carried out
other than by a suitably qualified person.
When replacing the power cable, no other than a rubber-covered cable, type
H07RN-F3G1,5 (for the device with 1.1 kW AC drive), HO7RN-F5G2,5 (for
the device with 2.2 kW three phase AC drive) or type H07RN-F5G1,5 (for the
device with 1.1 kW three phase AC drive) must be used.
In the event cables or other device supply lines need to be replaced, no other
line types than those indicated by the manufacturer must be used.
After use and always before performing any cleaning, servicing or repair
works or before replacing or removing any movable parts of the device the
mains plug must be pulled.
When operating the welding fume filter, the volume flow returned to the
working room by the device must be equivalent to no more than 50 % of the
supply air admitted to the room where the machine is located and/or installed.
With unobstructed room ventilation, an air inlet flow equivalent to one time the
room volume per hour is to be assumed which is tantamount to a ventilation
coefficient equivalent to 1/hour.
Air inlet flow [m/h] = room volume [m] x ventilation coefficient [1/h]
Example:
When operating an Castolin welding fume filter at a nominal air flow rate of
890 m3/h, the same volume of fresh air must be admitted, therefore. With
natural ventilation, this is the case if the overall volume of the working room
comes to a least 890 m (e.g.: surface of 255 m multiplied by a room height
of 3.5 m).
All moving machine parts driven by electric motors and all other dangerous
machine parts are to be shrouted with fixed safety guards, firmly fastened
and only removable with tools.
Acceptable Risk:
If a cover that can only be undone with tools is removed, a
risk of injury from a machine operation or switched on
equipment cannot be excluded.
All electrical parts are to be shrouted with fixed safety guards, firmly fastened
and only removable with tools.
Acceptable Risk:
If a cover that can only be undone with tools is removed, a
risk of electric shock cannot be excluded.
After any cleaning procedure or any extracting phase, wait for approx. one
minute to allow the dust in the device to deposit. After this only, the dust
collecting hopper may be discharged.
To discharge the dust collecting facility, the opening flap of the discharge
opening existing at the front side of the filter housing must be removed. After
that, the opening must be covered over with the collecting bag provided for
this purpose (5 pieces are supplied with the device as for standard) and tied
up with the integrated cord. Now fold the filter housing down in forward
direction. If no more dust falls out of the opening into the collecting bag,
refold the filter housing till it is in vertical position again. Remove the
collecting bag and close the opening by means of the cap.
When disposing the extracted material of, always make sure to comply with
the relevant rules and directives relating thereto currently operative and in
force !
- 10 - State: 09.04
With devices with automatic cleaning facility (special design), the
compressed air supply to the device must be interrupted beforehand in an
appropriate manner. The compressed air reservoir incorporated in the
device must be discharged by activating the cleaning facility repeatedly.
Only after that, the connecting hose between the reservoir and the
cleaning facility can be disconnected by means of the bayonet catch
provided for this purpose.
Remove the 8 outer recessed head screws from the cover plate and take
the cover plate off. Now, the filter cartridge can be removed. In order to
ensure that little dust is being produced when removing it, a sufficiently
sized big plastic bag must be pulled over the filter housing in such manner
that the filter is completely covered over with the plastic bag when
removing it from the device. Make sure to close the plastic bag carefully.
The plastic bag with the used up filter cartridge must be disposed of in
compliance with the relevant local rules and directives relating thereto
currently operative and in force.
To install a new filter, proceed in inverse order.
After dismounting the filter cartridge, it is not admitted to clean it by
blowing it out or by beating it.
