It has directed officials to collect the biometrics of suspected individuals or families. If such people possess Aadhaar cards, PAN, Voter IDs or passports, their numbers should also be recorded for future reference.

Detection of illegal immigrants entering Assam through its international borders has long been a critical responsibility of the Assam Police Border Organisation, the chief minister said. Recent reports indicate an increase in the number of illegal immigrants being detected, necessitating intensified efforts across the state, he said.

The state government has directed the Assam Police Border Organisation to take all necessary preventive and precautionary measures to intensify detection and proactively curb the movement of illegal migrants, and take steps to repatriate such people. For this, it has been asked to increase patrolling and surveillance and establish stronger coordination with the Border Security Force and other central agencies.
