Question from SarahHunnings24 on Draft:Currensea (14:12, 29 July 2024)

[edit]

Hello, I have recently posted three questions that I need replies to, if you could answer at your earliest convenience? Thanks --SarahHunnings24 (talk) 14:12, 29 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @SarahHunnings24 - the notability criteria for companies are set out here: WP:NCORP; I still see a lot of material which appears to be the result of press releases and self-publications. The best thing to do is identify three independent, secondary reliable sources that discuss the company with significant coverage; post them here and I'll give you my opinion whether they are enough to satisfy NCORP. Wikipedia holds for profit private companies to fairly strict standards due to the presence of promotional strategies and churnalism that surrounds much of the corporate press. Regards, Goldsztajn (talk) 00:45, 3 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
In terms of sources, check your sources against the lists here: WP:RSPSS. Multiple, significant coverage in a newspaper of record is almost always going to satisfy the criteria. Regards, Goldsztajn (talk) 00:54, 3 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Shabbirphysiotalk (15:51, 2 August 2024)

[edit]

Hi @Shabbirphysiotalk - have a look at the message on your talk page, there's lots of links there to help you get started. Regards, Goldsztajn (talk) 23:09, 2 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question from KitotekNVE (04:29, 12 August 2024)

[edit]

My old account where I was a certified “experienced editor” / “mentor” got deleted, is there any way I can get that status back? --KitotekNVE (talk) 04:29, 12 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @KitotekNVE - as far as I know, old accounts cannot be deleted (see WP:UNC). Do you mean you have lost access to your old account? What was the username? Regards, Goldsztajn (talk) 04:32, 12 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello - could you see if this article meets guidelines? --WealthNavigator2024 (talk) 18:04, 13 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @WealthNavigator2024 - there's no linked draft...? Do you have a specific text? Regards, Goldsztajn (talk) 21:51, 13 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @WealthNavigator2024 - ok, now I can see the draft exists. I will have a look. Regards, Goldsztajn (talk) 01:07, 14 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @WealthNavigator2024 - In current form, this would not meet policy or guidelines. There are a number of problems, first, it reads like a tax advice essay for someone in the USA, rather than an encyclopedia entry readable to anyone in the world. Please have a look at the Manual of Style for writing articles. Second, the concept itself does not apprear notable from the sources provided, this looks more like original research, which is against Wikipedia policy. Regards, Goldsztajn (talk) 01:16, 14 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question from FuscusSalinator (23:53, 13 August 2024)

[edit]

Hello. I just edited a page and I cannot figure out how to add the citation. --FuscusSalinator (talk) 23:53, 13 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @FuscusSalinator - Basically, there are two ways to add a reference, via the Visual Editor or via source (text) editing. For source editing have a look at this Help:Referencing for beginners. For Visual Editor look at this: WP:REFVISUAL. Let me know if I can help any further. Regards, Goldsztajn (talk) 01:06, 14 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Hussein Mustafa Parmar on Draft:Sheikh Hussein Mustafa Parmar (21:57, 16 August 2024)

[edit]

How can I put my photo in the page I want to create of myself --Hussein Mustafa Parmar (talk) 21:57, 16 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Hussein Mustafa Parmar - editors are strongly discouraged from editing about themselves. I see your draft has been deleted as it contravened policy. I would encourage you to edit in areas that interest you and where you do not have a conflict of interest. On your talk page is a message with lots of links on how best to contribute. Regards, Goldsztajn (talk) 10:29, 17 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hello, is Grammarly useful for Wikipedia? --R1R1Liii (talk) 03:25, 18 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @R1R1Liii - I've never used Grammarly and some editors recommend against it: Wikipedia:Don't use Grammarly. (That is just an essay, so it is not policy or guideline, just an opinion). Regards, Goldsztajn (talk) 05:03, 18 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Stats&Data (02:10, 4 September 2024)

[edit]

Some people are removing my work from various wikipedia page without a resson --Stats&Data (talk) 02:11, 4 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Stats&Data - the material you are adding is not supported by reliable sources. Material which one creates and publishes oneself cannot be considered reliable under Wikipedia policy. The best thing is to use sources which are independent of yourself and which have been published in reliable publications (academic press, peer-review journals, newspapers of record etc). Regards, Goldsztajn (talk) 02:32, 4 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
So what can I do to make them reliable and also their more similar creators on same page but no one edit them Stats&Data (talk) 02:35, 4 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Stats&Data - I'm not sure I can answer your question. You are posting material which you have created from a site which is self-published - this means the material cannot be considered reliable. Also, in general, the reason why editors are discouraged from posting matieral they themselves have written or published is that there is a conflict of interest. I'd encourage you strongly to work with material which is independent from you. Regards, Goldsztajn (talk) 02:55, 4 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hello, Could you tell me whether these sources are appropriate for a private company page: --SarahHunnings24 (talk) 15:45, 5 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question from SarahHunnings24 on Draft:Currensea (15:49, 5 September 2024)

[edit]

Hello, I was wondering whether these secondary sources are appropriate for a private limited company wiki page: Which, Finextra, Fintech Finance, City AM, Electronic Payments International, Yahoo Finance and Pymnts. --SarahHunnings24 (talk) 15:49, 5 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @SarahHunnings24: Other than Yahoo! Finance, they all appear more marketing/PR than reliable sources. I would suggest asking a question here: Wikipedia_talk:Reliable_sources/Perennial_sources. Regards, Goldsztajn (talk) 22:43, 8 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Anerva (18:44, 8 September 2024)

[edit]

Hi, I would like to create a weekepedia page for my company nassaudentalpc --Anerva (talk) 18:44, 8 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Anerva - Wikipedia discourages editors from creating materials where they have an interest. I have left a set of links on your talk page that help to understand processes for article editing and creation. Please have a look at those and feel free to come back to me with any questions. Women in Green's "Around the World in 31 Days" GA Editathon – October 2024

[edit]

Hello Goldsztajn:

WikiProject Women in Green is holding a month-long Good Article Edit-a-thon event in October 2024!

Running from October 1 to 31, 2024, WikiProject Women in Green (WiG) is hosting a Good Article (GA) edit-a-thon event with the theme Around the World in 31 Days! All experience levels welcome. Never worked on a GA project before? We'll teach you how to get started. Or maybe you're an old hand at GAs – we'd love to have you involved! Participants are invited to work on nominating and/or reviewing GA submissions related to women and women's works (e.g., books, films) during the event period. We hope to collectively cover article subjects from at least 31 countries (or broader international articles) by month's end. GA resources and one-on-one support will be provided by experienced GA editors, and participants will have the opportunity to earn a special WiG barnstar for their efforts.

We hope to see you there!
