by Charles Wesley

"Christ the Lord Is Risen Today" was first published as "Hymn for Easter Day" Hymns and Sacred Songs in 1739. It is a variation on the earlier hymn "Jesus Christ Is Risen Today".

This hymn is often sung to the anonymous tune Easter Hymn (sometimes incorrectly credited to John Worgan); other tunes commonly used include Nassau (Anonymous), Gwalchmai by Joseph David Jones, and Llanfair by Robert Williams.
