I am baffled that I had not heard about this book sooner given the absolutely amazing disability/chronic pain rep to be found within it. Not just the side characters, no, but the main characters too. I was floored. And it wasn't just one type of disability experience, but people that had different disabled experiences. Found within the pages there's great mental health rep and LGQBTIA+ rep too. On top of this are a variety of well-written characters, including the side characters who feel beautifully fleshed out, and the brilliant unveiling of a fascinating world. I could not stop reading this book and want more. So much so I'm re-reading it this month(April) on audiobook just so I can read the sequel sooner as my ebook hold still has like 7 weeks to go cause people are realizing what I did: this book is amazing.
Anyways, while I wanted to write a more involved review, I forgot I hadn't gotten around to it so instead this babbling mess of me gushing at 3am is the best I can do. I'll write something better at a later date....more

I'm aiming to read more of the books & play more of the games (as so far I've only played DA: Inquisition) so coming across these comics was a nice find. Even moreso was how surprisingly fun and fresh and yet Dragon Age they still feel. It gives me more of the lore of the world with interesting characters and beautiful art. This was such a great story, I loved both the main characters and definitely enjoyed seeing more of Varric - who is a favorite of mine. I definitely plan to read the others available to me soon. Preferably before my trial of Comixology Unlimited runs out! ...more

First, I want to say that I adore this book in its entirety. I picked it up on a whim after reading a marvelous Tweet thread by the author, and I haven't regretted it for one second. This book is a tasty treat from its rich worldbuilding to its varied characters. I'm excited to learn more about both especially after watching the way these characters, and the world itself, developed throughout this story.
Second, I can't wait to pick up the next book(already bought it too!) and have strongly recommended this one to many people. I'll keep recommending it too. Of course, a more detailed review will come in future, but for now this will do....more

The main characters, Eska, Flint, and Blue are wonderful are all well-written and you become quickly invested in them. You're with them every step of the journey; feeling the sense of dread when they're down or scared. Or the flutter of joy when they experience hope or success. You come to realize quickly that this isn't a duo, it's a trio and honestly Blue is my absolute favorite. I was admittedly a little nervous at first given that she's a neurodiverse character, but she's written beautifully and is definitely her own character able to stand on her own feet instead of just a tag-along her brother has to look after during the story. The side characters add to the story without overwhelming while the Ice Queen is the perfect level of cruel for a villain. And the world? This world is gorgeously developed and written from the views to the inhabitants to the monsters to the magic. While I've enjoyed plenty of books I've read this month, this one is definitely one of my top favorites and I can't wait to read more by this author....more

The stuff that happened in this book was not what I was expecting in the least, and some of the outcomes left my heart aching in ways I didn't think it would. Just when you think things are going to turn out the way you expect, the way you hope, Butcher expertly throws a twist that leaves you reeling. By the end, the dots being connected in your brain from previous books makes you realize that things are about to get reaaaal ugly, and. . . well, I know in my case I can't wait to pick up the next book and see what happens with my favorite wizard....more
