This is a series that I absolutely want more books to be released for as the first two have been absolutely wonderful. This one was a delight in ways I didn't expect even after reading the first one, and I loved reading all the pottery bits too. The side characters in Wedgford are all such a delight. I hope that the next book we get features Andrew cause even that himbo- and let's be honest, he has himbo energy - deserves to find love. The main characters were so great. I didn't think anyone could match up to Chloe and Jeremy, but Naomi and Kai have stolen first place in my heart. There's so much in Naomi that resonates with me. Things she felt that I felt. . . and things that reading here as she comes into her own were such a balm to my soul.
Definitely recommend this book, and this series, to anyone who hasn't read it and is looking for some wonderful, legitimate feel-good romance....more

I read a lot of historical romance and I enjoy a lot of historical romance, but I have not enjoyed one quite to the level that I did this book in a long time. The characters - from main characters to side characters - were great. The story was cute and interesting, and downright sweet. The humor (I laughed out loud at so many things in this book!) and romance (oh my, the romaaance) were perfect. The interactions between Jeremy and Chloe's father were done so well. And the story between Chloe and her father just. . . all the feels and teary-eyed sniffling. And the twists/reveals? Those were done so well. I hope that Courtney Milan plans to write more stories involving those from the town of Wedgeford cause I loved this one. I definitely plan to add this book to those that I re-read for comfort....more

The gorgeous cover & quote by Seanan McGuire grabbed me, but it was the idea of a Little Mermaid re-imagining that hooked me. It's not often that I stumble across a retelling of this fairytale that holds my interest. This wasn't the same though. The writing was exquisite, the characters fascinating, and the world-building inventive. The story had me intrigued from the start which is a good sign when starting off a book, and as it continued it became this moving, powerful force of words. As you follow Atuale, there's not an emotion or decision that someone who has been torn between two worlds yet fiercely in love doesn't understand. This is definitely on my favorite reads list for the year. I've already recommended this book to others and honestly feel excited to read more from the author.

I got this lovely edition as part of OwlCrate's 'Rebels With a Cause' May 2020 box and the first sight of this beautiful book made me glad I decided to finally sign up.
This story was captivating from the start. And the art style? ABSOLUTELY gorgeous. Even after I'd finish a page I'd occasionally catch myself just staring at the art to look at the little details so carefully added. And honestly, there's a lot in those little details that add to the story. If you just flip through quick? You're missing out. This is definitely a graphic novel where you want to take a little time to let yourself process the images. The characters in this story are just. . . oh man, I love them. Even the character who is supposed to be a villain — as there's a vibe even just from the description that in the bigger picture the villain is bigger than just one person — doesn't feel like the standard baddie. And I can't wait to read more about Nyneve, Batu, Prill, Io, Veda, and Banana as the story continues onward.
I have to say one of my favorite aspects in this book was the mother-daughter bond between Nyneve and Veda. It's such a sweet, understanding relationship that still has the expected hallmark of a child holding back something from their parent. Yet even when Veda gets upset with Nyneve, the anger is out of fear and love, and evaporates quickly enough into just that gentle understanding. Plus, Veda is a fierce and protective mother, and just full on awesome. Another favorite aspect though is the magic. I find the concept behind it interesting especially as there's a suggestion that there's far more to it than even the people of the Kingdom seem to be aware. I'm eager to learn more.
As far as diversity rep? And LGQBT rep? This book definitely has both and I personally think -though this is just a personal opinion and I don't claim to be an expert- it was handled well. There's also a great deal of rep for bodies of all different shapes and sizes as well. I'd also say there's some solid possibility of both PTSD and depression rep in here as far as the MC, which is understandable given the trauma of how she lost her father, that was handled with skill. Honestly, in a manner of speaking all the rep presented felt effortlessly done. There are definitely content warnings to be aware of though for parental loss, spousal loss, bullying, transphobia(challenged), misgendering(challenged), and abandonment. (If I'm missing any that are important, or phrased something improperly, please let me know so I can edit accordingly as I'm still learning.)
Anyways, my apologies for this rambling review. I wanted it to be more composed, but alas. . . Maybe I'll clean it up later. The most important thing here though is that I highly recommend Witchy. It's a delight....more

And we're always tagging each other in Facebook when we see one that suits the other or both of us in general. They're just such sweet representations of love. So when I came across this beautiful little hardcover at Target one day, I had to have it. I'm absolutely glad I bought it too as parts of the months of March and May are a little tough for me these days, but when I was feeling down I picked up this book. . . and smiled, felt bubbly, laughed. It's a well-done little comic collection that I'm proud to have on my shelf and definitely recommend....more
