Kakashi and Sasuke fic Idea

Just wanting to share my very elaborate prompt that I think overnight before real life catches me and I forget about them.

The premise : because of Minato’s seals/Orochimaru’s shenanigans both Kakashi and Sasuke got blasted with a jutsu that made their past selves appear.

Kakashi’s selves = Kid Kakashi pre-Sakumo’s suicide - Chuunin Kakashi - ANBU Kakashi - Jounin Kakashi - Hokage Kakashi

Sasuke’s selves = Kid Sasuke pre-Massacre - Genin Sasuke - Hebi Sasuke - Taka Sasuke - Blank Period Sasuke

Still have no idea about the plot, just their interaction :

Kid Sasuke and Kid Kakashi :

  • Kid Sasuke is more reserved than kid Kakashi and kid Kakashi while often being bold is not the type to make friend first so at first I think they will quietly sit while internally freak out on seeing their scary and messy future selves
  • Yamato makes shuriken-throwing arena for them to play and they see how the other are very good and start to compete
  • Many bullseyes later they move to sparring. Kid Sasuke acknowledges that Kid Kakashi is a genius but still pales in comparison to his best brother Itachi while Kid Kakashi acknowledges that Kid Sasuke is a genius but he AND his brother are still no better than his best father Sakumo.
  • Getting stirred up, they start to use ninjutsu. Kid Sasuke uses Fireball and Kid Kakashi uses Mud Wall to counter that but suddenly Kid Sasuke cancels his Fireball. Kid Kakashi asks why and Kid Sasuke answers that in Kid Kakashi’s Mud Wall there’s a dog and Kid Sasuke doesn’t want to hurt it
  • Kid Kakashi reassures Kid Sasuke that the dog is just a sculpt based on real dogs in his home. Kid Kakashi starts to talk about his father’s dogs and his future summon dogs while Kid Sasuke starts to talk about cats in Sora-ku and his game from Itachi to get their paw prints. They get into heated debates about which is better, cats or dogs
  • Someone (Yamato or Naruto or Sakura) brings them to pet shop then both Kid Kakashi and Kid Sasuke collectively agree that cats and dogs are all good and fluffy
  • Even though they have good time and everyone is so nice except their own future versions, they actually kinda feel afraid and don’t like to be thrown into a world so unfamiliar to them. But both Kakashi and Sasuke absolutely believe that soon Sakumo and Itachi will pick them up and bring them home, preferably on piggy-back ride. So they conceal their distress, determined to be good boys and patiently wait for their most loved ones’ appearance. No one dares to ruin it for them.

Genin Sasuke and Chuunin Kakashi :

  • HATE their naive kid version, wanting to jump on them when the (younger kids) start to discuss how Itachi and Sakumo are the best humans ever if not for Hokage Kakashi and Blank Period Sasuke’s interference.
  • Genin Sasuke expresses envy that someone same age/younger than him is Chuunin already while Chuunin Kakashi remarked that Genin Sasuke is better than a stupid Uchiha he knows a.k.a Obito so he should be Chuunin already, that Konoha’s new rule to disallow early graduate is stupid and he is glad that he’s born earlier than Sasuke so he never experienced that rule.
  • Genin Sasuke (in tsundere mode) complained despite his age, Chuunin Kakashi is more reserved than his loud teammates and started to talk about them, Chuunin Kakashi said that Genin Sasuke’s inferior teammates held him back (to be fair Chuunin Kakashi doesn’t understand nuance and thought that Genin Sasuke’s very-not-flattery description is Sasuke’s true feeling) and he should dismiss/ignore them. Genin Sasuke actually gets offended and defends Naruto and Sakura.
  • Chuunin Kakashi reluctantly apologizes for his harsh words but then he says that if Sasuke wants to completely focus on his mission, he should not get attached too much to his teammates because there’s the possibility that he must sacrifice them. Genin Sasuke does not like that and says that he gets stronger because he doesn’t want any of his precious people to get hurt ever again.
  • Genin Sasuke also says that Kakashi a.k.a his Jounin Sensei is the one who most wants him to treasure his teammates and never abandon them. Genin Sasuke says the famous “In the ninja world, those who don’t follow the rules are trash. But, those who abandon their friends are even worse than trash” quote and Chuunin Kakashi gets completely flabbergasted on why the hell his future self says something like that. But then he also remembers Obito and Rin and (denies to) kinda miss them.
  • Both Genin Sasuke and Chuunin Kakashi feel kindling spirit and logically want each other as teammates so they can train and improve better but in their hearts they can feel that teaming with someone so coldly similar and not bright personality like Naruto/Sakura and Obito/Rin will make them less happy
  • I also imagine that Chuunin Kakashi is in the middle of developing Chidori and Genin Sasuke is in the middle of learning Chidori so they can talk about their half-finished Chidori (I have no idea how to handle curse mark stuff tho)

Hebi Sasuke and ANBU Kakashi

  • Hebi Sasuke is VERY ANNOYED to suddenly be back in Konoha when he had important stuff to do (in the middle of the recruiting team) and ANBU Kakashi is more bothered by the fact that his future self becomes Hokage and not, like, died soon.
  • Hebi Sasuke tries to escape and ANBU Kakashi is one of people who tries to stop him. Hebi Sasuke sneers that ANBU Kakashi butts in on a matter that doesn’t concern him while his future version is not bothered to join Team 7 on Tenchi Bridge mission. ANBU Kakashi agrees that Hebi Sasuke’s matters are not his concern but his job at ANBU is to stop and eliminate nukenin like Hebi Sasuke.
  • Hebi Sasuke (denies) feeling a little bit upset that a Kakashi sees him with such cold eyes and lethal intent but convinces himself that if Kakashi tries to kill Sasuke, Sasuke can and is willing to kill Kakashi, despite his non-lethal policy and overall (denied) unwillingness to seriously kill his teammates
  • ANBU Kakashi sees Hebi Sasuke’s Chidori and asks if his future version taught him that. Hebi Sasuke confirmed it but also said that he shouldn’t take too much credit because his version is superior and listing all the things he did with Chidori post-leaving Konoha. When ANBU Kakashi hears that Sasuke used Chidori to ram Naruto’s chest a.k.a Sasuke’s teammate a.k.a Minato’s son he lets out a self-depressing laugh that makes even Hebi Sasuke concerned
  • ANBU Kakashi actually doesn’t object to Hebi Sasuke’s decision to leave Team 7, but on the premise that Hebi Sasuke is dangerous and full of darkness (on Kakashi’s perception) so his decision to isolate himself and throw his life for his mission is correct
  • “It’s okay for you to give your life on your revenge mission, but you should die alone” at this point Hokage Kakashi and Blank Period Sasuke choose to separate them.
  • Or maybe this ANBU Kakashi already has Itachi on his team so he feels disbelief but also responsible?
  • All angsty scenario aside, ANBU Kakashi is impressed with Kirin actually

Taka Sasuke and Jounin Kakashi

  • No one has a good time in this segment. Taka Sasuke tries to kill Jounin Kakashi for “stealing” Uchiha’s eye, Hokage Kakashi because, well, he’s Hokage, AND Hebi Sasuke because Taka Sasuke has a very deep self-loathing
  • Blank Period Sasuke has full authority to subdue Taka Sasuke and I think they will have a talk about their perception of Uchiha, Itachi, dan Konoha
  • Hokage Kakashi contemplates letting Taka Sasuke kill Homura and Koharu to pacify him (I am not hardcore anti-Konoha but I really don’t like the fact that they are still alive on Boruto)
  • Jounin Kakashi’s last memory of Sasuke is him teaching Chidori so he’s understandably unprepared to receive Sasuke’s hate. When he learns about Uchiha Massacre I think he will be surprised and feel sad for Itachi but not really shocked
  • Jounin Kakashi contemplates telling Taka Sasuke about how he received his Sharingan but he wonders whether he will make things worse. Plus he very very doesn’t want to do that, or overall idea to tell anyone about his past experience. Blank Period Sasuke sighs at this, thinking that more openings from an adult in his life will greatly help him, but understands why Jounin Kakashi is like that
  • Jounin Kakashi asks Hokage Kakashi how much he will fail from that point on, why the fuck he became Hokage, and what happened to Obito’s eye while Hokage Kakashi can just reassure him that everything will be better in the end
  • I think there will be very little interaction between Taka Sasuke and Jounin Kakashi because interaction between a misunderstood teen and a closed-off adult is bound to be disaster, so with them there will be more of their interaction with their (weirdly peaceful) future selves.

Hokage Kakashi and Blank Period Sasuke

  • Their messy past selves manifest in their era so they start to ponder what deity they offend for that, and their overall misfortune in their whole lives
  • I think they will look at their innocent kid versions and feel weird yet soft and mournful
  • Hokage Kakashi (and Team 7) sees like 80% of Sasuke’s versions so Sasuke has little qualms about Kakashi (and everyone) seeing his multiple versions, but Kakashi’s multiple versions are 70% carefully hidden by him so the fact that all of them are exist for everyone to see made Hokage Kakashi lowkey horrified and little ashamed.

I planned on more interaction between each versions like Hebi Sasuke with Chuunin Kakashi or Taka Kakashi with ANBU Kakashi but overall those are ones that I can imagine clearly in my head.

i agree he could've handled his situation better (when they first met again in shippuden is still an issue for some reason) but personally i think that wasn't what kakashi hoped for him, he wasn't expecting sasuke to get over it, he would've fully supported sasuke's idea of seeking justice for his entire clan wiped out there's no doubt, however, i don't understand why certain individuals want kakashi to be the biggest villain in sasuke's story when I'm pretty sure that he was one the few adults in the show who was on his side and tried to advocate for him

I think Kakashi and Sasuke’s relationship is interesting and I would have loved to see more of it. There’s frustratingly little interaction between them on screen though, largely because I think the plot demanded certain things to remain secret.

I think the whole problem with fandom’s protest on “Kakashi should tell Sasuke on how he got Sharingan or he was together with Itachi in ANBU” or “Kakashi should tell Naruto about his father being Kakashi’s sensei” is that they forgot the core of Kakashi’s character, the thing they showed us on Kakashi’s first introduction with team 7.

We are talking about a man who has exact same trauma as Inari yet on he told Inari “You know Naruto is actually same as you 😊”

We are talking about a man who was never honest about why he was late and never will

We are talking about a man who faced with a hurting boy screaming “I lost everyone and how about I killed everyone you loved too” with a vague “shame everyone has already been killed 😊” answer and refuse to elaborate

We are talking about a boy who were never tell his teammates why he strictly followed the rule and preferred to be seen as cold-hearted bastard

We are talking about the teen who was called “Friend-Killer Kakashi” and never spoke any protest

We are talking about a man who instead of talking “actually White Fang is my father and he already died when I was 5” preferred to be beaten by random granny and hide behind his student

We are talking about a man who preferred to send Shikamaru to talk with Naruto and relate about the pain of losing a teacher, like dude, you once lost a dear teacher too! And unlike Shikamaru you know Jiraiya!

We are talking about a man whose his bestfriend whom he idolized told him “you let Rin die” he didn’t say ANYTHING about the fact that the situation is way outside his control and was like “yes I am scum but you are hero 😔”

Like think about it for a second. If we’re using Obito’s logic a.k.a Kakashi let Rin die while the fact is Kakashis was incapable of do anything in his situation, the OBITO also let Rin die! He promised to protect Rin before Kakashi. He was actually alive! Yet he was not strong enough to break the wall on time and he was not fast enough to save Rin. He’s also a scum.

Which was exactly Obito’s point and why he wanted total world reset.

The only one who doesn’t see that way is Mister internalized-all-of-my-pain Kakashi.

We are talking about a man who did “I will bear the responsibility to kill my best friend” first before his zombie teacher catched his hand and was like “you should talk to Obito because you have shared pain and understand Obito the most”. Why? Because even in Kamui dimension he spoke about Rin’s feeling, Obito’s past feeling, but Kakashi NEVER thought to talk about his own emotion.

(People often mock Talk no Jutsu but most of them mostly misunderstand that as constant yapping and complaint. The principle of Talk no Jutsu is very simple. You said “I know what you feel. I understand you pain too, because I HAVE YOUR PAIN TOO. You are not alone so how about we together find the other way to heal this pain?” to someone whose hurting and acted on unrelated person. So basically the father of Talk no Jutsu specialist asked the Talk no Jutsu allergic 🤣)

Once I saw dudebros on youtube praise that Itachi and Kakashi are the ones who never talk about their pain. But unlike Itachi who literally CAN’T since his pain is a state secret, there’s absolute no restriction for Kakashi to say anything about his condition, which he can use to help his students and perhaps other people. That’s why in ask meme I say that my least favorite thing about Kakashi are self-deprecation and sometimes he was too apathetic to handle things that need his utmost concern. And I think this fandom debate shows how detrimental those aspect affect Kakashi’s ability to properly help his student (that’s why unlike those dudberos I don’t particularly like them or seeing them as Kakashi’s plus points). But unlike fandom who apparently saw those flaws as Kakashi’s ACTUAL moral defect, I and probably many other Kakashi fans saw them as Kakashi’s disability.

This is Kakashi’s mental problem with very understandable reasons that we’ve shown through the show (not to mention Kakashi’s own introvert characteristic outside his trauma). It’s not “Kakashi doesn’t want to help, Kakashi was being ignorant” he WANTED to help. He was literally desperate to help. But because of those aspects by instinct he chose ANY OTHER WAY than to vocally admit his pain. This is disability and fandom demonize or even overly praise it IMO shows how they treat deliberating mental disability. That’s like demonizing someone who has stage fright for not giving satisfying performance, even if that performance is affecting someone’s life and death.

P.S : you are PERFECTLY FINE to not like Kakashi because of this aspect. I saw many people say “I like/dislike a character based on how they treat [insert their favorite character]” and conclude that Kakashi didn’t treat the said favourite character right, and that’s completely fine. But that just means you have different preferance and bias. That doesn’t mean you have the ONLY CORRECT PREFERANCE and those who disagree with you and voiced it (if you posted in on any accessable social media and didn’t use bashing tag are in the wrong. What’s not fine is treating it as moral defect that needed to be harshly corrected and Kakashi is “bad person” and those who like him “liking the wrong character”. In our modern standard Kakashi is someone who is definitely not mentally suited for teaching and I think all Kakashi fans acknowledge it. But rule in ninja world is different and like Kakashi we are forced to deal with it. Regarding morality in personal level Kakashi is NEVER OBLIGATED to vocally admit his pain let alone willingly use them to help others. In my opinion (and Naruto story I think) the action that is morally wrong and needs to be stopped at all cost is lashing out from pain by actively and deliberately hurting other people outside of those who actively hurting them first. That’s why character like Nagato, Obito, Gaara, Sasuke, even Neji as long as they did that action are treated as antagonist who need to be stopped and corrected no matter how right you think their political stand is.

I realized why i hate the ‘team seven wasn’t read for the chunin exams’ argument

None of them were ready for the chunin exams they were in. Not even gai’s team was ready. If it was just konoha shinobi lee would have gone to the finals easy, but because it was a chunin exams with other shinobi he faced people who were way out if even his league, including a jinchuriki

The point if the chunin exams is one can never truly be ready because at the end of the day you do not know what you would face

Every team entered was ready for a chunin exams that kakashi, gai, asuma and kurenai would have taken part in. Aka one where they fsced only konoha shinobi

None of them were ready for the chunin exams they ended yp competing in and their sensei’s wouldn’t have known to prepare for the chunin exams their kids took part in

The fact that every single one of the rookie teams successfully completed the second exam and made it to the individual fights is in itself evidence that they were all ready to take the exam. Were they ready to be chunin? Fuck no. But they were ready to tackle the exam, and taking the exam in itself should have been valuable experience for them. Even with foreign teams competing. Especially with foreign teams competing. The presence of a murderous jinchuriki and a sannin was not something anyone could have predicted.

 Ideal Chuunin exam should be filled with genin level ninjas eager to surpass each other and become Chuunin like Kakashi Team’s Chuunin exam and Boruto’s Chuunin exam. Participant came, has a feisty competition yet death is not the main goal, and got a nifty certificate to get higher paychecks. But on Naruto’s chuunin exam they have :

  • a Sannin turned evil, want one of Kakashi’s students and can incapitate another one of Kakashi’s student
  • bunch of lethally trained lackeys of the said Sannin with no interest for Chuunin badge, only helping master’s shenanigans as said above
  • 3 Kazekage kids with, again, no interest for Chuunin badge
  • Their interest is infiltration and national take over actually
  • Also one of them has monster with massive bloodlust inside him
  • also want one of Kakashi’s student and has narrative parallel with another one of Kakashi’s student

What was supposed to be lil-bit lethal competition turned to have so many backstabbing and unexpected hidden agendas to the point that I can only blame Team 7 overall bad luck for that. There’s NO WAY Kakashi can predict that. I mean yeah life fucked him over since he was five but can’t blame the guy on his first experience of teaching to not think that his team would be screwed around THAT BAD.
