The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of the flipped classroom model on academi... more The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of the flipped classroom model on academic achievement, academic motivation, and cognitive absorption. The study was conducted with a group of 68 freshman students studying at a vocational school's "Computer Programming" department in the 2019-2020 academic year. A quasi-experimental framework with pre-test/post-test was employed in the research, and the participants were randomly assigned to the experimental group and the control group. In the experimental group (n=38), the flipped classroom model was utilized, while in the control group (n=30), the traditional classroom model was employed. The experimental process of the study continued for 5 weeks: 4 weeks of training, and 1 week of orientation. Demographic Information Form, Academic Achievement Test, Academic Motivation Scale, and Cognitive Absorption Scale were used for data collection. To analyze the data, Independent Samples T-Test, Paired Sample T-Test, Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test, Spearman Correlation, and Mann-Whitney U Tests were used. The findings showed that the experimental group had higher levels of academic achievement than the control group. Besides, it was found that there was no discrepancy between intragroup and intergroup academic motivation. Although the pre-and post-test results of the experimental group students who took the cognitive absorption scale did not show a statistically significant difference, the results indicate a modest level of connection between cognitive absorption and academic motivation.

While the concept of multimedia describe the applications of environments which are created by using a combination of different media types, authentic learning characterizes the type of leaning which students learn in their natural environment with the real-world issues and complex problems. In this study, the terms and characteristics of multimedia and authentic learning are explained; reasons and examples of the authentic learning in multimedia are sorted.

The relationship between online learning readiness, academic motivations, and perceived learning ... more The relationship between online learning readiness, academic motivations, and perceived learning was investigated via structural equation modeling in the research. The population of the research consisted of 750 students who studied using the online learning programs of Sakarya University. 420 of the students who volunteered for the research and filled the scales via the convenience sampling method constituted the research sample. The correlational research model was used in the research. The scales of online learning readiness, academic motivation, and perceived learning were applied to the participants. The relationship among the variables of the research and the research hypotheses for the model were tested via structural equation modeling. It was revealed as a result of the research that the online-learning readiness levels of students predicted their academic motivations directly and their perceived learning indirectly. It was also found that student academic motivations predicted their perceived learning directly. The proposed model was verified in accordance with the data obtained from the research. It was determined as a result of the model obtained from the research that academic motivation is effective in increasing perceived learning in online learning, and increasing readiness is an effective way to increase academic motivation.

This study aims to develop a scale to measure the social networking literacy proficiencies of individuals. An item pool was created after a thorough review of the literature and taking experts views, and then application form prepared. The scale was applied to students of the Faculty of Education of Sakarya University, and reliability and validity analyses were conducted on the data gathered from 313 students, using the SPSS 20 statistical software. Exploratory factor analysis (EFA) was used to examine the construct validity of the scale, and the internal consistency coefficient (Cronbach’s Alpha) was used to examine the reliability of the scale. The analyses conducted showed that the scale consisted of 40 items under a single factor which explained 61.179% of the total variance, and the Cronbach’s Alpha value calculated to examine the reliability of the scale was .98. This study aimed to examine the relationship between the lifelong learning trends of preservice t... more This study aimed to examine the relationship between the lifelong learning trends of preservice teachers and the online information searching strategies used by them. Accordingly, this is a quantitative study using the correlational research design. The study group was composed of 317 preservice teachers studied at Sakarya University. The Lifelong Learning Trends Scale and the Online Information Searching Strategy Inventory were utilized. It was concluded in the study that there was a statistically significant relationship among Lifelong Learning Trends Scale and all factors of the Online Information Searching Strategy Inventory. The stepwise regression model which was created to determine to what extend all the online information searching strategies predict lifelong learning trends was statistically significant. It was observed that preservice teachers’ lifelong learning trends were statistically and significantly predicted by problem-solving strategies in the first place which were followed by disorientation strategies and purposeful thinking strategies, respectively.

The study used the descriptive cross-sectional survey model. In this context, Social Entrepreneurship Qualifications Scale, Lifelong Learning Trends Scale, Digital Literacy Scale and the Frequency of Web 2.0 Usage Questionnaire were applied to the prospective teachers (N=809) studying at Sakarya University Faculty of Education. Two different models were created with Structural Equation Modeling based on the data obtained, and these two models were combined to be tested. Bu amaçla araştırma tarama modelinde desenlenmiş olup veriler doküman analizi yoluyla incelenmiştir. Çalışmanın evrenini aktif öğrenme konusunu içeren Yüksek Öğretim Kurumu(YÖK)’nun internet sitesinde yayınlanmış tüm tezler oluşturmaktadır. Bu çalışmada Ng tarafından 2012 yılında geliştirilen 17 maddeden oluşan "Dijital Okuryazarlık Ölç... more Bu çalışmada Ng tarafından 2012 yılında geliştirilen 17 maddeden oluşan "Dijital Okuryazarlık Ölçeğinin" Türkçe 'ye uyarlaması yapılmıştır. Ölçeğin orijinali 4 faktörlü bir yapıya sahiptir. Bu faktörler tutum, teknik, bilişsel ve sosyal olarak isimlendirilmiştir. Ölçeğin Türkçe' ye uyarlama çalışmaları dilsel eşdeğerlik ile başlamış, iyi derecede İngilizce ve Türkçe bilen 3 uzman tarafından İngilizce'den Türkçe'ye, farklı 3 uzman tarafından da Türkçe'den İngilizce'ye çevrilmiş, uzmanların görüşleri doğrultusunda Türkçe deneme formu elde edilerek İngilizce ve Türkçe bilen 37 akademisyene iki hafta arayla her iki form uygulanmış ve her iki form arasındaki korelasyon katsayıları anlamlı olarak bulunmuştur. Dilsel eşdeğerliğin ardından AFA, DFA ve güvenirlik analizleri ile gerçekleştirilmiştir. AFA için 185 öğrenciden elde edilen veriler, DFA için ise farklı 210 öğrenciden elde edilen veriler kullanılmıştır. Birinci düzey DFA ile araştırma grubundaki kişi sayısı faktör analizi için yeterli seviyede olduğu, ikinci düzey DFA ile dijital okuryazarlık örtük değişkenin anlamlı birer yordayıcısı olduğu bulunmuştur. İç tutarlılık katsayısı (Cronbach Alpha) ve test tekrar test yöntemleriyle de ölçeğin güvenirliğine bakılmıştır. Elde edilen bulgular sonucunda ölçeğin Türkçe formunun geçerli ve güvenilir bir yapıya sahip olduğu görülmüştür.
