Hamzah "Hera" El-Baher (born October 14, 1999) is a Canadian Age of Empires I (inactive), Age of Empires II and Age of Empires IV (inactive) player who is currently playing for GamerLegion.

Biography[edit]

Hera became known as an excellent player around 2017. He initially played for Heresy in the Escape Champions League, but joined Aftermath for the conclusion of the tournament and finished second. His first breakout performance in 1v1 tournaments was Nili's Apartment Cup 3 where he finished second behind TheViper. He made the finals of Hidden Cup 3 just two months later.

Hera joined Tempo Storm in 2020, and although he played with them for only a year, he won Hidden Cup 4 in an incredibly tough bracket, which was at the time his biggest tournament performance. After he returned to Aftermath, he won Empire Wars Duo 2 and HOLY Cup. Around the same time, he made the finals of two editions of Red Bull Wololo.

When Age of Empires IV was released in 2021, Hera played it extensively and made the quarterfinals of GENESIS. In 2022, he won the Winter Championship in a close grand final over the favorite, MarineLord.

Hera took a break from Age of Empires in 2022 to play League of Legends[1]. He returned to AoE in May but said he would only play Age of Empires II. Aftermath soon after repeated their Battle of Africa title, winning BoA 3 over GamerLegion. Later, he finally got his first victory in a Lan event, winning both The Grand Melee and Nili's Apartment Cup 4 just a few months apart from each other, and beating Liereyy 5-4 in the finals of both tournaments.

  • Hera is of Palestinian origin.
  • He currently lives in Argentina, together with his wife RoxyC, who is a member of the AoE2 community as well[3][4][5].
  • Hera is known for his very strong macro play and his love for Hussars.
  • In the "Top 50 best Age of Empires 2 players of all time" ranking, which was published on aoezone.net in December 2020, Hera was voted in the 10th place by various other expert players. Furthermore, he also was designated with the title "The Quickest Gun".[6]
  • In July and August 2019, Hera hosted a $600 3v3 tournament for teams with a maximum combined ELO of 5400, called Hera's Potato Cup, which was won by the German team "Vote for Pedro" (receiving $300).[7][8][9]
  • In August 2020, there was Hera's Dojo Tournament for players with 1500-1700 ELO.[10].
