Filipe "Astini" Astini is a Brazilian coach who is currently coaching PARIVISION.
Biography[edit]
He started as a Warcraft 3 professional player and played DotA Allstars early in 2004. He came back to Dota 2 as a investor, founding Midas Club in 2016 as a in-house league and in November 2016 acquiring a team with Costabile, Sooths, Lelis, Thiolicor and Bardo.
Astini started his coaching career in September 2018 by the request of Duster to build a team together. They played under the tag "ASTINI DE SUNGA", which means "Astini with trunks" and had a picture representing that as a logo: the main reason was Duster was still under contract with paiN and could not play for any other professional team, thus leaving the Midas Club tag behind.
In June 2019, with Duster leaving paiN Gaming, he build the first FURIA Esports line up, the team, with Duster and 4 new players in the Brazilian scene, qualified first place on the open qualifiers for TI9 but failed short on the closed qualifiers.
Under his coaching, Furia became top 3 team in the South American region, qualifying for the Bukovel Minor and placing 3rd on the LA Major qualifier, which was cancelled due to the pandemic and played online, which Furia also took the 3rd place.
During the pandemic, Furia ceased the investments in Dota 2 and there was no big tournaments in the South American region. Astini decided to fly to Ukraine to play the EEU/WEU tournaments together with 3 Brazilian players, thats when he joined B8.
Astini's time coaching B8 was short, with him leaving the team 1-0 in the first round of Div 2 DPC, the team ended up 1-6 and got relegated. On a tweetlonger, he claimed that his captain wasnt practicing enough and there was no point in keeping tryharding since they weren't allowed subs.[Citation needed]
Dendi about Astini leaving B8: "Astini was both coach and manager. He did absolutely all the work. He also drafted as a team. Until the end of January we were together, we even started playing the first season of DPC, we played the first game led by Astini and right before we should gather in Lviv for a bootcamp Astini decided not to go on bootcamp but to go home [...] After Astini left, no one could perform his job. He did a lot of preparatory work, draft, training and other work."[1]
After leaving B8 and returning to Brazil, Astini started streaming, especially commenting on pro matches. He grewn up his livestream when he started livebetting on matches and got famous for hitting a 3000 odd bet that Thunder Predator would 2:0 win 4 times in a row.[2] He was later invited as a Valve Talent to the first Valve official Portuguese cast during TI9, being the analyst for the Finals.
After TI9, Astini went back to competitive scene by coaching Hokori. After the first DPC Season he left Hokori, a Division 1 team to join NoPing VPN in Division 2, he mentioned the main reason was he still had streaming contracts that wouldn't allow him moving to Peru, and that this was a Brazilian Dream Team worth giving a try eventhough it was very likely in 20 days it would be ruined. The team disbanded 40 days later and he left the team.[3]
Astini was a panelist for Tour 1, 2 and 3 of the DPC SA 2021/2022. He also casted the DPC WEU Closed Qualifiers and North American qualifiers, ESL Malaysia SA and WEU/EEU qualifiers.
He accepted a last minute offer to coach CDUB on TI10 qualifiers.[4]
