As goraks roll the gem drop table 100% of the time after having killed at least one gorak in the Gorak Plane, it is one of the best monsters to kill for the shield left half with a drop rate of 1 in 244 (while wearing a ring of wealth) while having Legends' Quest completed.[1] Because of this, it is suggested to bring a gem bag as they drop uncut gems extremely commonly.
Similarly to dark beasts and Warped Terrorbirds, Goraks are never tolerant towards the player regardless of how much time players spend in their range. A unique outlier are the Zamorakian goraks, as wearing a piece of Zamorak-affiliated equipment will override their natural aggression.

Goraks use typeless melee, which means that Protect from Melee will not prevent or reduce damage. For every successful hit they make, a random combat stat of the player (excluding Hitpoints) is drained by 1-4. As such, armour with high crush defensive bonuses is recommended.
If a gorak successfully hits the player while any protection prayer is active, a message will appear in their chatbox saying "Your protective prayer doesn't seem to work!"
Several safespots are available in the Gorak Plane, but due to the high aggressive radius of goraks they may be difficult to use. One safespotting tactic is to use the southern walls of the inner ring, as they will get caught on the edges. If one attacks you from the south after respawning, run east/west until it can get caught on a corner, and then run back to the safespot.
The gorak drop table is very unusual. In most situations, goraks will always give a roll on the gem drop table instead of their more expansive table. However, goraks will drop from the full gorak drop table if either of the following are true:
the player has never killed a gorak in the Gorak Plane before
the player is in the middle of doing an uninterruptible action such as using a ball of wool on your cat or teleporting
This also applies to goraks in the God Wars Dungeon or Wilderness God Wars Dungeon: they will drop from the full gorak drop table until a gorak has been killed in the Gorak Plane, after which they will drop from the gem drop table instead.
^ 3.03.1The talisman dropped depends on where the monster is located: monsters above ground level drop the nature talisman, and monsters below ground level drop the chaos talisman.
^ 4.04.14.2Only dropped if Legends' Quest has been finished; if not, a talisman is dropped instead.
Goraks could formerly be assigned as a Slayer task exclusively by Duradel after gaining access to fairy rings, though they were removed from his task list in an update on 10 September2015. Despite this, Goraks are still shown as slayer monsters when casting Monster Examine on them, and the corresponding Slayer task tip is still referenced in the game's code, which states "Goraks are extremely aggressive creatures. They have been imprisoned on an alternative plane, which is only accesible by using the fairyrings. Be extremely careful, their touch drains health as well as skills!"
