Werewolves are found in Canifis. They appear as level 24 humans wandering the village until they are attacked, causing them to transform into level 88 werewolves. If the player attacks with Wolfbane, the Werewolf will remain in human form as long as it is actively equipped. They will always drop wolf bones, regardless of their form upon death. However, their human and werewolf forms have a separate loot table. They have a maximum hit of 8 as a werewolf, and up to 2 as a human. Players with lower combat levels should bring food, as their attacks can be quite accurate.

It's important to note Werewolves only count towards Slayer tasks when killed in wolf form. Killing them in their human form will not count towards Slayer tasks. There are multiple strategies that can work to reduce damage and speed up the task when killing these for Slayer:

  • Players with an Agility level of 40 or higher can set up a Dwarf Cannon in the middle of Canifis, then immediately run south-east and begin the Canifis Rooftop Course. This not only allows the cannon to fire at every Werewolf within range as if it were a multicombat area, players can also earn Agility experience and Marks of Grace while the task completes. As long as the player is on the rooftops, the Werewolves will wander around the area and take damage from the cannon. The cannon will need to be reloaded every other lap or so, depending on course speed and how many Werewolves stay within its range.
  • Alternatively, players can set up a Dwarf Cannon, run into any nearby building, and close the door. The Werewolves will become aggressive and stack up behind the closed door. Since the player is not actively taking damage, the cannon will target all of them. You will occasionally need to run outside to reload the cannon. This method can be more tedious, as the Werewolves typically stack behind the door in a way that makes it difficult for the cannon to target them. Moving around inside the building should spread them out and alleviate this issue.
  • Players using Melee should attack with Wolfbane equipped, preventing the Werewolf's transition to its wolf form. When their health is very low as a human, switch to a different weapon. It will regain 38 health in the transformation to wolf form, but will ultimately cause less damage than if it were a wolf the entire time.
  • Werewolves can also be safespotted over the STASH in the middle of Canifis village, from behind the bar in the Canifis pub, or across the two tables located inside. There are 4 werewolves inside the bar. Note if you are safespotting; you will stop attacking when the human turns to the werewolf form.

Werewolves can also be found in the God Wars Dungeon (and Wilderness version). These are slightly stronger than their Canifis variant, and are aligned with Zamorak. The Werewolf bones for Rag and Bone Man II are not dropped in the God Wars Dungeon, only from the werewolves in Canifis.[d 1]
