A player with 27 Smithing can make the shield by using three iron bars on an anvil while carrying a hammer, granting 75 Smithing experience. It cannot be bought from Cassie's Shield Shop for ironmen, as there is no stock available.
The iron kiteshield yields the highest melee defence bonuses for any shield slot item at 1 Defence.
