Officer Foils Theft From Pleasant Hill Store, Police Say
Surveillance footage shows the recovery of piles of merchandise.
PLEASANT HILL, CA — Police in Pleasant Hill on Wednesday arrested a suspect in connection with a theft from Dick's Sporting Goods. Zahra McCockran, 18, of Oakland, was arrested on suspicion of grand theft and conspiracy to commit theft.
At 7:41 p.m. Wednesday, officers with the Pleasant Hill Police Department were patrolling the area of the Dick's Sporting Goods at 2314 Monument Blvd. when an officer spotted a suspicious occupied vehicle backed into a parking stall near the store's entrance.
Due to past trends of retail thefts, the officer checked on the car. As the officer was checking the vehicle, several people began quickly exiting the store carrying numerous items of merchandise, police said.

Once the subjects saw the officer, they dropped the merchandise and fled back through the store.
The subjects were eventually detained for a theft investigation.

McCockran was arrested, and four other juveniles — two males and two females — were detained and ultimately released to their guardians.
Police said representatives from Dick's Sporting Goods believe the group may be involved with other thefts at other Bay Area Dick's Sporting Goods.
