Elderly Pedestrian Dies After Being Struck By Car In Burbank
Burbank police said the 81-year-old woman was crossing 79th Street and Nagle when she was hit by car Friday morning.
BURBANK, IL -- An 81-year-old woman died from injuries she received after she was struck by a car late Friday morning crossing an intersection in Burbank. The driver of the vehicle did stop and has been cooperating with investigators, police said.
The accident happened around 11:55 a.m. Friday. Police said the woman, who lives in Burbank, was attempting to cross northbound on 79th Street to the east of Nagle Avenue. As she began to cross 79th Street, a car in the curbside lane yielded to her. Police said that a black Chevy Camaro traveling in the median side lane ended up striking the woman.
The woman was rushed to an area hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. The intersection was partially closed and roped off with yellow tape. Investigators could be seen taking measurements of the partially intersection. Traffic was still being diverted as of 3:30 p.m. There are currently no charges pending. The accident remains under investigation.
