UPDATE: Lorton Man, 48, Charged in Shooting

Police say Michael Wassif shot 20-year old, who is now in life-threatening condition. Both lived at the same address, police said.

UPDATE 2:20 p.m.: Detectives have charged 48-year-old Michael Wassif, of Forest Greens Drive, with one count of malicious wounding. Police say he shot a 20-year old Lorton man at the same address early Tuesday morning; that man is in life-threatening condition, according to police.

Wassif is being held in the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center on no bond, police said.

A 20-year old Lorton man is in life-threatening condition Tuesday morning after he was shot at his home on Forest Greens Drive, according to Fairfax County Police.

Police say they responded to a report of a person shot at a home in the 9200 block of Forest Greens Drive (see map below) in Lorton shortly before 3 a.m. Tuesday.

The man suffered a life-threatening gunshot wound to the upper body and was flown by Fairfax 1 to Inova Fairfax Hospital, police said.

Detectives are investigating the cause and circumstances surrounding the shooting.

Here’s what police say happened: Officers arrived at the home and found that there had been a small party taking place. There were three women and another man in the home. The shooter was quickly identified as a 48-year-old Lorton man, who was acquainted with the victim, and he was held in custody, according to police. Charges are pending further investigation.

Police have not released the identity of the man who was shot or the man who was taken into custody.

All people in the home were known to each other and officers believe the situation stemmed from a dispute and was contained within the residence.
