A player using a fishing rod at a fishing spot.

Fishing spots are locations across RuneScape where fish and other sea creatures can be caught using the Fishing skill. Most fishing spots require some type of equipment to catch fish, such as small fishing nets or lobster pots. However, players may learn the ability to fish barehanded after completing Barbarian Fishing, negating the need for harpoons, and may purchase the ability to fish without bait from the Prawnbroker.

Fishing spots will move to a nearby game square after a random period of time, which according to timing ten movements happens on average every 4 minutes and 12 seconds.

List of fishing spots[edit | edit source]

Standard[edit | edit source]

Options to fish lobsters ("Cage") or tuna and swordfish ("Harpoon").

The following fishing spots are the most common, found in many locations across Gielinor. They typically have no requirements other than Fishing level to use.

When choosing a fishing spot, make sure to pay attention to both right-click options, as the equipment needed may differ even between options with the same name. For example, fishing spots with the "Net" option require a small fishing net when the other option is "Bait", but require a big fishing net if paired with "Harpoon" instead.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • The fishing spots are treated as NPCs by the game engine, as evidenced by their text colour.
  • When a fishing spot changes location, if clicked on as it changes, the player will run to the new location to start fishing. This is most likely because the fishing spot teleports itself rather than disappearing.
