Slug thralls are Witchaven villagers guarding the entrance to the Slug Citadel. During Salt in the Wound, they must be persuaded to let the player, Eva, Ezekial, and Kennith enter the citadel. It's done by saying that one wishes to seek enlightening and to hear the voice of the Slug Queen.
