Grouping drop tables[edit source]

I see you dislike having drop tables sorted alphabetically. Could you please make it somehow apparent what your intended grouping is? Whenever I have to modify such drop tables, I often have trouble judging what is the correct location for a line. For instance, I could deduce that in the drop table for sack of wild rewards grouping was likely made by the documented rarity, and I changed the rarity of trail-be-gones to uncommon due to the message colour when receiving them. Next, I have to figure out how the uncommons are categorised, and ended up guessing reverse alphabetic, but I have a feeling that was the wrong guess and the table is now incorrectly sorted by default. Keeping it alphabetical by default would just make things so much easier. One other option would be to use HTML comment to make your grouping choices visible for others, or split the drop tables into multiple and add headings revealing what you had in mind. Also, as a user I far prefer alphabetic default sort instead of having to do it manually each time. Thingummywut (talk) 12:40, 18 October 2022 (UTC)

I'm aware that there is the sorting functionality (on desktop, anyway) for tables. I tried to explain above why I would prefer alphabetical order by default, but maybe I'll just have to reiterate with the real example I just faced (and similar problems keep reoccurring with all the drop tables with some kind of non-obvious grouping): Drop table has "volcanic protection" and "obelisk shard", in that order. I want to add "trail-be-gone". Should it be the first, second, or third line in the drop table? It's entirely possible that there is some grouping going on here, but it's just not clear to me as an editor what it should be, and making me think of it is making editing or using the wiki much more difficult than it should be. If the item I want to add is in a new "group", how should it be located with regard to the existing groups? Thingummywut (talk) 14:52, 18 October 2022 (UTC)
I think [easy, elite, hard, medium] is better as it enables me to quicker locate the elite casket if I need to check something on that line, and if I need to add the master casket, it's clear to which point it should go even if I don't happen to remember the "natural" order of Treasure Trail difficulties. Right, so your idea of grouping here was "wildy interactions". That wasn't apparent to me, and having to guess your intentions is mental work I'd rather not do. I would also prefer if there is some clear order inside the "groups" as then it's clear where my edits should go. Don't get me wrong, organising things in groups can be great if done properly. I just don't like this way where we're supposed to naturally know what the other editors thought for groups and how they should be ordered. When I look at the drop table and want to find "small plated necronium salvage", I don't scan it for different groups, looking for the "salvage group" that may or may not exist, and if it does, where in the table should it be? I just look at "S" and hope to find it there, and if not, then I order it manually and look again (or ctrl+F). Simply going alphabetical by default solves all this. Cape requirements templates update[edit source]

Hi Mat2PL, thank you for updating my cape requirements templates, but I wanted to let you know that you shouldn't be editing other people's userpages unless it's for maintenance, e.g. fixing a broken (image) link.  Salix (Talk) User:Salix 10:01, 16 November 2022 (UTC)

It's good to hear that you find my templates useful. And I guess technically this would indeed be a kind of maintenance. But that's not the maintenance that's mentioned in RS:DEU. Anyhow, it's fine this time. :) Also don't forget to sign your messages on talk pages and discussion pages by adding ~~~~ at the end of your messages.  Salix (Talk) User:Salix 11:00, 16 November 2022 (UTC)

RE:Removal of Infobox Item from Penance egg paints[edit source]

Hi Mat2PL, I found you have those changes about "Penance egg paints" and most of them are much appropriate and well-formatted. However the reward "Penance egg paints" from Barbarian Assault are not actual items, they are something like upgrades or unlocks, for example these Sydekix's Shop of Balance#Upgrades, Herby Werby#Unlocks of 100 spaces of herb bag upgrade. So it cannot use Infobox Item to format that information. Icejash18 (talk) 08:15, 24 November 2022 (UTC)

It has not much tools that helps you to create anchors to "subpage", especially the page is so short to break down to individual section. So-called "subpage" can be done by creating sections to let the page contains some anchors to direct to. Another way to do so is to utilise Template:Switch infobox and Template:Synced switch. Vote in the 2024 Weird Gloop elections![edit source]

Hi Mat2PL,

Because of your involvement with the wiki, you are eligible to vote on the candidates for the board of Weird Gloop, the company that hosts the RuneScape Wikis.

See meta:Weird Gloop elections for general information about the process, and meta:Weird Gloop elections/2024/Candidates for candidate presentations and community questions.

There are 3 candidates for RSW, 4 candidates for OSRSW, and 1 candidate for pt-RSW. If you'd like to influence who represents the voices of these communities inside the company, please consider voting in this election. You are one of only 242 people that meet the requirements, and this is your opportunity to help shape the future of the wikis.

Thanks! BigDiesel2m (talk) 21:41, 1 April 2024 (UTC)

RE: Ironman Mode/Strategies/Summoning - Calculations[edit source]

Hi Mat2PL! Thanks for edit on Ironman Mode/Strategies/Summoning. Not that familiar with the edits yet, but trying to contribute a bit (did all of my prior edits without using an account 😅)

In my calculations I used the xp values with the full shaman outfit which adds 1% per piece so that's probably why the values are a bit off! Also thanks for adding the pouch value, totally forgot that extra gp 🙈

Thanks a lot, espuxTalk Highscores 11:54, 27 May 2024 (UTC)

RE: Wikian title[edit source]

Hello, I would love to be nominated for the Wikian title? :) Thank you so much for thinking of me. I’m not sure if this is where I was supposed to respond… Thank you! (talk) 20:21, 3 June 2024 (UTC)

Editor feedback[edit source]

Hi. I’m looking into peoples’ experiences of editing the wiki and being a part of the community here. I'm reaching out to you as you are one of the more seasoned editors who has been active recently. I wondered if you'd like to take a short survey about your experiences to help out with this project? If you’re interested you can take the survey here. You can also reach me on our Discord if you’d like to talk to me directly about anything - my username is isobelj :) IsobelTalk page 20:01, 28 August 2024 (UTC)
