Week 3 / EdereOmnes

This week, I edited the article IT infrastructure. The diff is for my edit is here. I learned that the process gets easier as I continue to contribute by editing more articles EdereOmnes (talk) 17:45, 26 October 2023 (UTC)

@EdereOmnes Please finish all parts of this assignment for this week and then ping me here. You added a statement without adding a citation to support it. Add this and then ping me here. I will then take a look at it and reply. FULBERT (talk) 20:40, 27 October 2023 (UTC)
Hi professor, something happened to the article I found (cited). Just tried a DOI, 10.1109/2943.692520, but it did note work. Ended up using an article I found. Please take a look and let me know... EdereOmnes (talk) 14:23, 28 October 2023 (UTC)
@EdereOmnes You added a link to an external source rather than cite your source as per my videos for how to do this. That source does not have a DOI so edit the source for its url. Ping me here when complete. FULBERT (talk) 18:51, 28 October 2023 (UTC)
@EdereOmnes I reverted your edit per WP:EL. Cite sources and avoid external linking. Revise this as requested above and ping me when done. FULBERT (talk) 13:28, 2 November 2023 (UTC)
Hi professor,
I cited a Wikipedia source but couldn't cite an article using the DOI, 10.1109/ECAI.2018.8679021. EdereOmnes (talk) 15:13, 2 November 2023 (UTC)
Hi professor, I got it. I was selecting "link" instead of "cite". Please take a look when you get a chance. EdereOmnes (talk) 00:54, 5 November 2023 (UTC)
@EdereOmnes Nice final edit to this article. Current with Week 3. FULBERT (talk) 03:59, 9 November 2023 (UTC)

Week 4 / Rhiheat

This week I edited two articles.

First is on the Aquadom that burst late last year. Here is the diff. I added a couple of sentences about how investigators did not find enough evidence to determine the cause of the burst and eventually closed the investigation. My addition helped keep readers informed about the Aquadom.

Second article I edited and added a citation to is on Fernando Fitz-James Stuart, 17th Duke of Huéscar. Here is the diff. I added some information regarding the Duke needing to change the name of his second daughter, as was reported on the news. This helped readers informed about what's going on with the Duke and his family's life.

This week I learned that while Wikipedia isn't to be used in formal papers as a citation, the citations itself in Wikipedia articles are very important. While anyone can edit Wikipedia articles, it still helps inform users that the claim is backed by a source. Rhiheat (talk) 21:25, 1 November 2023 (UTC)

@Rhiheat :Nice edits. Current with Week 4. FULBERT (talk) 04:04, 9 November 2023 (UTC)

Week 3/KawhiKawayi

This week I have edited the article E-commerce, here is the diff: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=E-commerce&diff=1183198697&oldid=1180020031. I add a citation to clarify the predicted development of e-commerce logistics system. KawhiKawayi (talk) 20:07, 2 November 2023 (UTC)

@KawhiKawayi Nice edits. Current with Week 3. FULBERT (talk) 04:06, 9 November 2023 (UTC)

Week 3 / CORNELIAST

Following the feedback from last week, I have added information about Duolingo's founder, who was recently inducted into the Inventors Hall of Fame. This information was sourced from outside the company's own website. Here's the diff. CORNELIAST (talk) 23:24, 2 November 2023 (UTC)

@CORNELIAST Nice edit. Current with Week 3. FULBERT (talk) 04:08, 9 November 2023 (UTC)

Week 4/ Yiwa Lai

I made an edit to the "Social media" article by adding a citation. Here's a summary of the citation I added: - Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Social_media&action=edit - Topic: The citation adds information about the impact of social media on modern communication. - Key Points: The source highlights how social media has transformed the way people communicate and its implications for society. You can see the difference in the article by comparing the previous version with my edit. Here's the diff link: https://w.wiki/7$qw In the process, I gained a deeper understanding of the impact of social media on modern communication. I discovered that social media has not only transformed how people communicate but also has profound implications for society. This made me realize the importance of depth and accuracy in knowledge when editing Wikipedia. Yiwa lai (talk) 06:28, 3 November 2023 (UTC)

@Yiwa lai I do not see weeks 2 or 3 completed, and this one for Week 4 is also not complete. Please schedule time to discuss with me before doing any additional editing. FULBERT (talk) 04:10, 9 November 2023 (UTC)

@Jasminezapple Your edit was reverted, but I think it was ok overall. However, where is Week 2? Current with Week 3. FULBERT (talk) 04:15, 9 November 2023 (UTC)

Week3 / PortiaGui

This week I edited the article Impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on tourism. Here is the diff. I found that this Wikipedia article that show of the impact of pandemic on tourism is not very complete, so I supplemented it by adding the pandemic's impact on tourism in an Asian country based on my research. PortiaGui (talk) 00:24, 4 November 2023 (UTC)

Zz4517 (talk) 04:15, 4 November 2023 (UTC)

@Zz4517 Nice edits. Where is Week 2? Current with Week 3. FULBERT (talk) 04:21, 9 November 2023 (UTC)

Week 1 / SUpercool2154

Hello FULBERT, I'm SUpercool2154 and I am learning how to edit Wikipedia articles by getting more familiar with the policies, best practices, and different functionalities of the website. I also learned how to use sandboxes to draft and practice my edits before finalizing them. I am looking forward to implementing these new learnings in Week 2. SUpercool2154 (talk) 19:47, 4 November 2023 (UTC)

@SUpercool2154 Welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you find this assignment a helpful learning experience. Current with Week 1. FULBERT (talk) 04:24, 9 November 2023 (UTC)

Week 2 / SUpercool2154

For this week, I edited the article GfK#History. The diff can be found here. I learned that it was quite easy to edit my first article after finding a topic and company that interests me and identifying a gap in the article. SUpercool2154 (talk) 20:35, 4 November 2023 (UTC)

Hello, I edit American football card, and the diff is here. I did some research to topps and american football card, and I found out topps is taking over football card now. They create new series for college athelets to bring them some profits. It's a good point that I can put it in my research to talk about the future of sports card, and targeting more audiences.Leozgzzz (talk) 21:17, 4 November 2023 (UTC)

Week 3/Harrisondonnersbach

This week I edited a Wikipedia page on: Cross-cultural leadership and here is the diff page.

"In their research, Dickson, Den Hartog, and Mitchelson (2003) delve into the nuances of how individualism shapes leadership dynamics across different cultures. They suggest that the cultural backdrop significantly influences how leaders develop their individualistic qualities, which in turn affects their decision-making and leadership styles."

I learned more specifically about the detailed standard of plagiarism. And there's more learnings and questions to it during the process of selecting and checking the credibility of the articles. It also requires more effort on analyzing the article and putting the article in my own words. Harrisondonnersbach (talk) 03:40, 5 November 2023 (UTC)

@Harrisondonnersbach Nice edit. Current with Week 3. FULBERT (talk) 12:40, 9 November 2023 (UTC)

So that when users read up on articles at any given day, they are always shown the latest updates on that particular page. Rhiheat (talk) 00:57, 9 November 2023 (UTC)

@Rhiheat :Nice edits. Current with Week 5. FULBERT (talk) 12:51, 9 November 2023 (UTC)
