Surgical Technologist is a member of surgical team . He take care of all the manegement of operation room . Surgical instruments sterilization , dressing table preparation, operation table preparation, instrument table preparation are functions . He is standing hand in hand with surgeon assisting in surgery , provide instruments and any other devices that surgeon may need throughout surgery . They should know all the procedures in surgery , so that they can be ready in advance . Critical thinking is must .

Surgical technologist should have knowledge of physics and computer because in a operation room functioning of all the machines should be proper. So it becomes necessary that he should have knowledge regarding every machines.  

Radiations have a big role in treatment (Radiotherapy in cancer patients)and diagnosis of any disease (X ray , CT scan , MRI ). So if surgical tech doesn't know about physics behind the any device / machine , it gets very hard to check if the device is working properly or not.

So a surgical technologist has to be expert in every aspect to be able to work in operation room
