A rather disappointing anime adaptation of a really good story.
The animation uses a lot of real footage of the natural backgrounds - rivers, woods e.g. It isn't basically bad and sometimes even looks good - as blurry as it seems to be. Maybe the blurriness was the artistic touch of the animation. Anyway it's a good match with the instrumental and almost meditative music which you got to enjoy - and I enjoyed the music more than the animation itself. The characters aren't that much animated as well - most of the time they just appear very static.
The story itself is really good and is a good introduction to the manga series which consists of 14 volumes. So don't expect to much of a story or rather of the character development.
The OVA is not really a Shounen Ai yet since the red-eyed Kagetsu is a shifter and neither male or female yet. So it might be even interesting to those who don't like Shounen Ai but like to watch older shows.
