Even this parody alone is enough to warrant at least a trial viewing. (FYI, this is from episode 49)
Right off that bat, I must tell you, do not expect a typical children's anime when watching Genji Tsuushin Agedama.
No, it's not groundbreaking, and no, it's not a must-see show either.
But it has a mixture of elements that makes it feel different from other anime from its time.
It was marketed as a children's anime back in 1991, but when I watched it recently, it felt a lot like today's otaku moe anime:

1. The most significant character in the show is a tsundere ojousama.

Kuki Rei, the antagonist of this show, is a 4th grader who comes from a very affluent family that owns a global conglomerate.
Rei often transforms into On'yo Miko and starts commotions in various public situations in attempt to assert her superiority over others.
She is arrogant and even does that "o~hohohoho" laugh,
but she shows enough bare chest, moments of vulnerability, and unintentional comedy to grow on the viewer and become a likable character.
She has an on-screen presence that's even bigger than the nominal lead character, Genji Agedama.

2. There's a moe loli as the female protagonist.

Heike Ibuki doesn't really initiate plot advancements, so she isn't exactly a protagonist.
Nonetheless, she is one of the main characters, and her voice acting, which is done by a younger Mitsuishi Kotono, is just HNNNNNNG.
So much innocence and moe and loli.

3. Lots of panchira and bathing scenes.

I've censored above images because this is categorized as a children's show, here on anidb. (....wait, what?)
This is a children's cartoon that aired on Friday evenings around dinner time (when kids would come home after playing outside)
and there is saabisu happening at least once every 2 episodes.
The decisions of the director and moral fiber of the production staff are questionable, but I'm not complaining.

4. Parody of other shows.

Kamen Rider, Sailor Moon, Castle in the Sky, Castle of Cagliostro, Kiki's Delivery, Only Yesterday, and a lot more.

Bottom line, Genji Tsuushin Agedama is quite a peculiar show.
The show aired on children's anime time slot, but it was heavily laden with elements that wouldn't be appreciated by kids.
(Not the nudity though, kids didn't have easy access to porn back then so any saabisu was very much appreciated.)
If you enjoy moe anime (full of saabisu but lacking any meaningful plot), give this show a try, you might enjoy it.
There are no subs yet, but I wouldn't be surprised if you started subbing.
