The Los Angeles Lakers have a new head coach.

Frank Vogel was introduced to the public Monday morning amid a brewing controversy elsewhere with former president Magic Johnson.

Vogel was a previous head coach of the Orlando Magic and Indiana Pacers.

Vogel came in after former head coach Luke Walton left the team in April after losing for three seasons with the Lakers. The former Laker star went 98-148 after getting his first permanent head coaching job with the 16-time NBA champions, according to an AP story.

Walton became the coach for  Sacramento Kings a few days later where he's been dogged with a lawsuit and allegations of sexual assault by a local sports reporter.

"We would like to thank Luke for his dedicated service over the last three years," Lakers General Manager Rob Pelinka said in a statement from the NBA at the time. "We wish Luke and his family the best of luck moving forward."

In series of videos posted on the ESPN First Take Twitter Monday morning, Johnson says he resigned for a couple of reasons, including problems with general manager Rob Pelinka who he said was the person who was "backstabbing" him.
