Our rooms was not cleaned we came back dirty as we left to town off wish we thought there are people who cleaned the rooms at least we should’ve been told that we must clean our rooms buy ourselves. And our disk was not working to open the gate there by the security gate and the security was very rude and said he is not going to open for us

Loved the week end night life....Spur had a couple of hick ups but will let it pass this time....People there are such tings as mixed race couples, staring at us would not make us go away.... get use to it, grow up!!
There is no more the wheel shopping Centre. Durban Central is in ruins and no one is restoring it to its former glory.
Drugs and lawlessness have destroyed this beautiful place I carried as a peace haven from my childhood.

Highly recommend Spiga Italian restaurant for great food.
The roads in some areas are very bad and the driving leaves much to be desired. Drivers do not use their indicators and stop wherever they want to.
We made a short stop at North Beach. There was a lot of litter lying around so we didn't stay long.

Having lived in the city twice, 1981 and 1996 and visited briefly in 2016 I was shocked to see the decline of the city. It has become a dirty, smelly city. We drove through the city centre and even outside the town hall you smelled urine and other unmentionables. It used to be a clean holiday city and great to visit. Now people do not stay in Durban or go to the beaches there, they head North or South coast to go to the beach or to stay as we did by staying in Umhlanga. It also did not feel safe and when you go out of the car at the iconic beach front you were harassed by beggars and street vendors. Probably my last trip to Durban itself.

A lot of attention (and no little expense) has been afforded to the decor throughout. A good looking hotel with a lot to explore. Comfortable sitting area with honesty bar. Decent breakfast by the pool with good choice. Short drive to the beach and Umhlanga Rocks. Will probably be our go to when we are next in Durban.
