I would not recommend people of my age to visit the City Centre though. We spent more time in the Fourways area after 77 On Percy and found that to be a safer area.

The only thing I feel for the city people to be more on the street is to have a good public transportation system which is sadly missing. Hardly there are any persons seen on the street and this gives you a feeling of fear to walk around. Evenings and night are spent mailing in the confines of your hotel room which makes it boring.

Some great day tours and half day tours from Johannesburg. Definitely recommend the Lesedi cultural village,walk with lions,walk with elephants, apartheid museum and military museum. Six hour drive to Kruger Park or there's a couple of small airports close to Kruger from Joberg. Ubers are the main way to get around and most tour people communicate through WhatsApp. ATMs are very hard to find, make sure your travel card is fully loaded and you have enough cash.
