No trip to Hamburg is complete without a visit to the city’s old warehouse district, Speicherstadt, and the popular harbor promenade, the Landungsbrücken. The best and most popular way to explore the city is by boat or ferry so you can truly admire the stunning architecture and the city’s waterways.
The impressive City Hall and the popular St. Michaelis church will awe any visitor, and music fans should look for the Indra and the Star Club, where the Beatles played between 1960 and 1962. Hamburg is famous for its local dishes, Birnen, Bohnen and Speck, Aalsuppe and open-faced sandwiches with cold-smoked or pickled fish. Lots to do and see in Hamburg. The city has a very " big city " feel to it. It has the usual sleazy parts you associate with a large port. Lots of great - and sometimes pricey - shops. Great eating places - of all nationalities. Easy to get to the city centre from the airport. People are by and large friendly. Eating quite well is possible in the many outlets at the station, but more expensive places elsewhere, too. A number of good museums. Tour of the city by bus is good, if pricey. Getting around Hamburg is easy with the excellent public transport system.

Had no idea what an important and historically significant city Hamburg is. The water and the harbor is everything. The city is built all around it and it's beautiful. It's also a 'relaxed' big city which was very pleasant. There are multiple neighborhoods to explore - an unexpected terrific experience.

We really liked a few things, the Elbphilharmonie is gorgeous, absolutely lovely. The Dungeon Tour was by far our favorite event, followed by a nighttime tour of the harbour. We enjoyed the Elbstrand, complete with a Matjesfischbrötchen and we also liked the drag queen tour we did through the Reeperbahn and St. Pauli (It was very impersonal, but we enjoyed the history and the message).
There is a great Korean Fried Chicken spot on the Reeperbahn that makes amazing food. Otherwise, the food is not great in Hamburg. I'm not going to lie, we did not enjoy most meals of our meals for the first few days there and outside of three meals, most of the food there was forgettable. As mentioned, I had a great Matjesfischbrötchen on the Elbstrand, we had one good fish dish in a brewery and a wonderful brunch at the Katzentempel Cat Cafe.
We went to Minaturwunderland, which is impressive, however, there were so many people there (at 10PM) and kids running around, you can't really enjoy it with screaming children bumping into you and people standing in front of portions recording it on their phones multiple times. If you go on a school day in the middle of the week at two in the afternoon maybe it would be enjoyable.
Overall, it was fine. There were a few attractions that we really enjoyed, but now that we've done it, we wouldn't repeat.

The shopping district near the Rathaus Platz was interesting. There were a good number of interesting neighborhoods we traversed in a short bus tour. The city seemed to have a considerable variety of things to do or see, notwithstanding the heavy damage inflicted on it in the last world war.

Very friendly reception staff, allowed me to check in an hour or so early.
Great location, on the edge of the reeperbahn so its still pretty quiet at night. Station across the road and hamburg centre within a reasonable walk anyway.
Room was clean, spacious and modern, very pleasantly surprised. Felt more like a modern trendy hotel.
Great shower with loads of hot water and pressure.
My room had a double bed with a single bunk over the top so perfect if you've got a little one.
Hotel Senator is only a short walk from Hamburg Central Station. Our room (top floor double room with balcony) was spacious with a large, comfortable double bed and good sized bathroom. Despite being in the centre of Hamburg, the hotel is in a really peaceful location. The breakfast selection is one of the very best we’ve experienced. Finally, a lovely touch, is the voucher for a complimentary drink which all guests receive.
Fantastic hotel is a great location! The old warehouses of Hamburg are a veritable feast of bars, restaurants, cafe's and museum's. Then a short walk over one of the many bridges, and you're quickly in Hamburg's main centre.
Lovely hotel bar too!
it was close to city center, by the river... all hotels are so expensive in Hamburg, this is also expensive for the room but cheaper than all other hotels close to the city center... hot water was good... for 1 night, it was good
Perfect location for walking along the Alster yet only a short bus ride away from Hamburg centre.
This hotel is charmingly old fashioned and the staff is exceptionally friendly
