Arona is located in the south of the island of Tenerife. It is the third most populated municipality on the Island. It has an area of 81.79 km² and a population of 79,377 inhabitants. Its altitude is 610 meters above sea level.
It is one of the most important tourist municipalities on the island, it has a wonderful climate throughout the year, which allows its tourist expansion, the growth of its population, which has been multiplied by nine in a century, gives an idea of the development achieved .
Given this growth in the Los Cristianos area, an important port has been established that facilitates the communication of Tenerife with La Gomera, La Palma and El Hierro. On this pier is the largest mural in the world, measuring 4,800 m2 that recreates the theme of the protection of cetaceans, with the slogan "Los Cristianos - Puerta de la Naturaleza".
The town of Arona offers in itself a complex architectural complex of the greatest interest. The varied samples of its popular architecture are multiplying, constituting an important cultural point of reference.
The historic center of the southern municipality of Arona extends around the church of San Antonio Abad, which dates from the end of the 18th century, although the original hermitage had been built in the previous century.
The Central Park of Arona was inaugurated in 2004, it is the largest green space in the municipality, with 4 hectares of surface and has a collection of tropical palm trees and a rocky area that preserves the endemic flora of the municipality.
The Montaña de Guaza is a protected natural area of volcanic origin. It is very visited by tourists, due to its proximity and accessibility. It offers beautiful views of the town and the sea.
Also from the Mirador de La Centinela you have a broad perspective of the San Lorenzo Valley, and a whole wide sector of this part of the island.
The coastal sector is also very prominent.
