Save the Historic Malt House!

Save the Historic Malt House!
The Issue
Our Westside History is being erased building by building! Help us save the Historic Malt House on 115 S. Zarzamora. It is an important community gathering place which lives in the hearts and memories of many of the San Antonio community.
Opened in 1949, it is an example of early American car culture as a Drive- In facility. It served as a restaurant serving American staples such as shakes, burgers, fries and also Mexican specialties like enchiladas. The Malt House is also known for their crispy dogs. It is truly reflective of our Mexican-American heritage. The Malt House was a favorite spot for teenagers after football games, breakfast after church services, first dates, and other family celebrations.
In 2013, the Malt House was landmarked historic by the Office of Historic Preservation in San Antonio, Texas.
On Oct. 5 the Historic Design Review Commission will be reviewing the demolition request submitted by the owners of the building. Please sign this petition asking the HDRC to vote NO on the demolition request because of it's importance historically, culturally and to the greater San Antonio Community, especially the Westside community.
We need to hear your stories about this special place in the comments below! We want to share them at the Oct. 5 hearing. If you can come to the hearing it will be on Oct. 5 the the One Stop Building at Alamo and Flores (1901 S. Alamo) at 3 PM.
Please share! Help save our Westside History y la historia de San Antonio!
