Winslow Township Seniors of 2020 deserve a social distance compliant graduation ceremony.

On behalf of the graduating class of 2020 from Winslow Township High School, it was extremely disappointing to hear the decision made for our graduation to be online. However, as of May 26, Governor Murphy announced that New Jersey schools would be allowed to have social distance compliant outdoor graduations as of July 6. It is unfair to simply cancel normal ceremonies and move the graduation to virtual premises, when better options exist. We are unable to experience what every other person has felt to graduate.

While we recognize that any plans undertaken need to adhere to the safety guidelines of the NJ Department of Health, we implore the consideration of a graduation in which every student would be spaced 6 feet apart, and contact with guests would be minimized. Our class could not predict that the day we left school on March 15th would be our final day as a unified class. 

Please take the minds of the seniors into consideration before taking away a major milestone and an experience of a lifetime.
