Queen Letizia of Spain was elegant in a green suit as she made a sombre return to work at Zarzuela Palace after two weeks of devastating floods in Valencia.

The European Queen, 52, met with representatives from Code.org at the royal residence in Madrid to discuss the importance of teaching computer science in schools, especially to young girls.

The non-profit organises the annual Hour of Code - a movement that sees 10 per cent of pupils across the globe coding for one hour during Computer Science Education Week in December.

Afterwards, the royal mother-of-two sat down with members of the Spanish Porphyria Association.

The royal discussed the rare disease with the association's president Fide Mirón, who has Congenital Erythropoietic Porphyria.

For her day of jam-packed meetings at Zarzuela Palace, Letizia wore an elegant suit by Spanish brand Bimba y Lola.

The muted green blazer and high-rise pleated trousers, which she has owned since 2021, are staples in Letizia's wardrobe.

The stylish royal wore a black blouse underneath the jacket and accessorised with gold star-shaped earrings.

Letizia completed her ensemble with a a pair of black kitten heels by her go-to shoe designer Magrit.

Spanish outlet El Mundo previously reported that the Queen has chronic metatarsalgia - or, in layman's terms, pain in the ball of the foot.

After suffering a broken toe earlier this year, lower heels are likely more comfortable for Letizia than her high-heeled alternatives.

With her brown hair falling just below her shoulders, the Queen kept today's look simple with subtle makeup consisting of light brown eyeshadow and a sheer pink gloss on her lips.

Letizia's meetings come just a few hours before her husband King Felipe, 56, returns to Valencia to visit armed forces involved in rescue work in the flooded region.

The brutal weather conditions have already claimed over 200 lives.

On November 3, the King and Queen of Spain travelled to Paiporta - one of the towns most affected by the torrential rainfall - to pay their respects to victims and give their condolences to those affected by the floods.

Torrents of muddy water had wrecked the town's infrastructure in Spain's worst such disaster in decades.

Letizia appeared to be crying as she spoke to a woman in Paiporta, with the Queen wrapping her hands around her shoulder.

She also consoled groups of sobbing local women affected by the flash floods and gave them hugs as they explained their situations to the Queen.

Meanwhile, her husband King Felipe was heckled and had dirt thrown at him by furious locals during the visit.

The monarch was pelted with mud and objects like drink cans by angry survivors of the deadly floods as he walked through the ruined town.

Hecklers also targeted Letizia, as a video showed the Queen bursting into tears with mud on her face, as she was helped through the busy streets by her entourage.

King Felipe is set to return to Valencia today to visit the Jaime I Base in Bétera to talk to members of the army and the air force as well as the Military Emergency Unit.

The monarch will then travel to the port of Valencia to visit the Galicia - an amphibious ship which has arrived with members of the army to assist with damage caused by the flood.

His trip will conclude with a tour of the Valencia Trade Fair site where the main army logistics base has been set up.

But the King is expected to return to the flood-hit region next week with his wife Letizia by his side once again.

It has been reported that they will visit Chiva - a visit which was on their original schedule before it was scrapped due to the hostile reception in Paiporta.
