Vice President Kamala Harris was snubbed when trying to exchange pleasantries with a Republican senator's spouse, leading to an unhandy viral video.

Republican Sen. Deb Fischer's husband, Bruce, refused to shake Harris' outstretched hand in the middle of the swearing-in ceremony.

After Fischer was sworn in, the Nebraska senator and Harris shook hands and the pair pleasantly thanked each other for their service to the country.

Then Harris turned to Bruce saying 'Thank you. Congratulations to you,' before offering him a handshake by stretching out her hand.

Bruce, who seemed not to have looked Harris in the eye for the entire swearing-in ceremony, then looks at the VP for a split second, says 'thank you' and awkwardly averts his gaze once more.

Just moments before Harris jokingly noted how uncomfortable Bruce appeared.

'It's okay, I won't bite,' Harris says as Bruce refuses to look at her while finding the spot he is meant to stand in for the swearing in ceremony.

'Don't worry,' Harris continues while raising an eyebrow to Sen. Fischer, the VP's old Senate colleague.

Though not clearly seen in the clip is a cane that Bruce was grasping onto with his right hand, the same one he would've had to use to shake Harris'.

Videos showing the bizarre interaction between the VP and the Senate spouse has since garnered millions of views and sparked fierce debate about which party is to blame.

'WOW! Nebraska Senator Deb Fischer’s husband REFUSED to shake Kamala’s hand and can barely look her in the eye,' pro-MAGA commentator David Harris Jr. wrote in response to the clip.

'Thank you, sir, for representing every American whose lives were destroyed by her and Joe’s policies,' he continued on X.

'Nebraska Senator Deb Fischer’s husband just completely ignored Kamala and her attempted handshake,' the conservative Libs of TikTok X account posted alongside a laughing emoji.

'This man is my kind of man. Kamala went in for a handshake and was promptly embarrassed. I think she's realizing that nobody likes her,' Conservative commentator Gunther Eagleman posted.

But others said the interaction was rude and that Bruce's snubbing the VP was inappropriate.

'Husband just couldn't get over himself,' One X account that goes by the moniker Peacemaker posted.

Liberal account Call to Activism wrote of the interaction: 'I can’t stop watching this a**hole husband of a Republican Senator Deb Fischer who refused to shake hands with Vice President Kamala Harris today.'

'MAGA is classless even in victory,' the post said.

Fischer said in a press release summarizing the ceremony, I am humbled by the faith and trust Nebraskans have placed in me as I take this oath for the third time.'

'I will not break that trust, and I will not betray that faith. I ask for your prayers for wisdom and strength that I may know and follow God's guidance as I continue to serve the people and the state I love.'

Fischer's office did not immediately respond to a request for comment about the viral interaction.
