Glamorous influencer, 27, dies after undergoing common cosmetic surgery in Mexico

An influencer died just three days after undergoing a liposuction at southern Mexico clinic that was not authorized to perform the procedure.

Denisse Reyes had the liposuction done Sunday at the San Pablo Medical Clinic in Tuxtla Gutiérrez, a city in the southern state of Chiapas.

The 27-year-old took to her social to inform her followers that she was in the recovery stage.

Her uncle, Ammao Rodríguez, told DailyMail.com that she was administered an intravenous medication by her surgeon, Dr. Orlando Gamboa, on Monday.

However, Mr Rodriguez alleged that Reyes' body did not react well to the medication before her heart stopped beating.

'She starts to feel sick and goes into cardiac arrest and at that moment they take her out of the room where she was in the (clinic),' Rodríguez said.

A friend who accompanied Reyes was instructed by the medical staff to remain outside the recovery room and that they would 'talk to a family member her condition was delicate,' according to Rodríguez.

He added that Reyes was transferred to Manzur Hospital because San Pablo Medical Clinic did not have an intensive care unit.

Reyes' medical condition failed to improve and died Wednesday.

Rodríguez said Reyes was healthy and did not have any preexisting illnesses.

He added that has been in contact with Chiapas health authorities to file a lawsuit against Gamboa.

'May he authorities do justice to Denisse and may the doctor pay in some way for what he did,' Rodríguez said.

'It's not fair that she was already fine after her surgery and suddenly her health worsened to the point of death.'

Gamboa has not commented publicly since the tragic death. He made headlines in December 2024when he was accused of being responsible for the death of a woman who died after having a liposuction.

Gamboa immediately went on social media to say that he was not involved in the operation and the medical team that was performed the procedure were not linked to his clinic.

Reyes, who leaves behind an eight-year-old son, found fame in 2022 as a 'nenis,' a term for women who sell online products in Mexico.

She eventually opened her own store and used her Instagram and TikTok accounts to promote her business in her hometown Tampico, a city in the northeastern state of Tamaulipas.

'You were a woman who always did what she wanted and went 1000% in her life, too free, spontaneous, extroverted, that was you,' Reyes's sister, Massiel Reyes, wrote in a lengthy Facebook post.

'Sister, I love you with all my heart, what is happening hurts my soul, I would like to turn back time but it no longer exists.'
