Premier League giants Arsenal, Liverpool and Man City have proved the most dominant teams in England in 2024 when looking at the calendar year league table for the country's top four divisions.

Mikel Arteta's Gunners top the pile for the most points won per game of the 92 clubs making up the Premier League and EFL during the year.

Arsenal have earned 2.36 points per game in league matches, winning 26, drawing seven and losing just three of their 36 games in 2024.

The year has seen the Gunners finish second in the Premier League for the second consecutive season.

Despite their impressive form, Arsenal will enter 2025 lying third in the top flight, nine points adrift of Liverpool.

The Reds have a narrowly lower points won per game of 2.30 in 2024, owing to playing and losing one more match than Arsenal.

Wrexham's continued rise has been highlighted by their fifth place finish of the 92 league sides

Their position highlights the seamless transition between Jurgen Klopp and Arne Slot in the dugout at Anfield, with the Reds form being very strong over 12 months.

Liverpool have been the top scorers in the calendar year with 92 goals, while Arsenal have the least goals conceded with 25 goals against, leading to Arteta's side having the best overall goal difference.

Reigning Premier League champions Man City are third for points per game on 2.16, with their stunning form on route to claiming a fourth straight title keeping them high despite their recent poor run.

The calendar year table, produced by former PA Head of Data Analysis Ben Mayhew, has Leeds United and Wrexham in the top five.

Leeds are the highest ranked EFL side after accruing 2.13 points per game, with the club currently top of the Championship this season having lost the play-off final back in May.

Wrexham's continued ascent under Hollywood owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney is highlighted by earning two points per game across their 45 league fixtures.

The Red Dragons earned a second consecutive promotion in 2024 and are currently riding high in second in League One as they bid to reach the Championship.

Chelsea's resurgence has been highlighted by the Blues sitting in seventh place overall.

At the wrong end of the table, Wolves have picked up the lowest amount of points out the sides to have featured in the Premier League throughout the duration of 2024.

Wolves finished 86th of the 92 teams having picked up 0.92 points per game, winning nine, drawing seven and losing 21 times in 2024.

Southampton have finished the year in 80th place overall, despite earning promotion back to the Premier League.

Saints woeful form since returning to the top flight has contributed to their lowly position, having picked up just six points so far this campaign.

Luton, who were relegated from the Premier League last season, ended 2024 with the worst overall defensive record having shipped 89 goals.

The Hatters rank 89th overall having earned just 0.84 points per game, narrowly ahead of League One sides Rotherham and Burton.
