Woman sues New York hotel for $1million after falling off a BAR STOOL

A woman is suing a US hotel for $1million after falling off a bar stool in its lounge bar.

Antoinette Allison was staying at the Crowne Plaza in Syracuse, New York, when she claims the accident, which left her needing surgery, happened.

In a lawsuit, she alleges she was waiting for her food to arrive in the hotel’s Library Lounge when she fell from the ‘wooden, high-back bar stool’, fracturing her wrist in several places.

In her lawsuit, Allison, of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, claims the seat was too high off the ground to ‘coordinate with the height of the bar top’.

And she alleges the ‘hotel management knew of other problems with the height of the stools’.

The alleged incident happened when Allison was staying at the hotel in 2011, but the lawsuit has just been filed and will now go to court, with a preliminary hearing scheduled for May 1, before state Supreme Court Justice Deborah Karalunas.

On its website, Crown Plaza Syracuse says: ‘The Crowne Plaza Syracuse, NY hotel offers upscale accommodations paired with superior service and comfortable amenities for successful business and leisure travel.

‘We are located in the downtown area, conveniently accessible to top attractions and businesses, making us a top choice hotel in Downtown Syracuse.'

A spokesman for the hotel said it did not comment on on-going litigation.
