Yellowstone star reveals whether they'll be killed off ahead of the series' upcoming finale... and confirms that co-creator Taylor Sheridan 'has a plan'
The future of the hit series Yellowstone has been up in the air for months amid conflicts with its star Kevin Costner.
Now that Costner is likely not returning for the second half of the show's fifth and final season, there's still the question of who will make it to the end alive.
The Dutton clan has shown itself to have a taste for bloodshed and revenge since it premiered in 2018.
And even though three of the top stars on the series are negotiating with Paramount to return for a sequel series to possibly be led by Matthew McConaughey and Michelle Pfeiffer, that still leaves plenty of beloved cast members whose fates are up in the air.
But now one of Yellowstone's more recent additions has weighed in on her possible fate, as well as co-creator Taylor Sheridan's plans to wrap up the show.
As Yellowstone gets closer to shooting the second half of its fifth and final season, one recent addition to the cast is weighing in on whether their character will make it out alive
The country singer Lainey Wilson, who joined the show at the start of season five, said she was optimistic that her character wouldn't be killed off in newly resurfaced remarks to Audacy; still from Yellowstone
In newly resurfaced remarks, the country singer–turned–Yellowstone actress Lainey Wilson has given a hint about whether she'll make it out of the show alive.
While speaking to Audacy, the rising star indicated that she was feeling optimistic.
'I laugh and say, "They didn’t take me to the train station," so, we’ll see what happens on that end,' she shared.
The 'train station' refers to a deserted canyon in Wyoming, just past the Montana border, where the Duttons and their most loyal 'branded' employees have gone to kill or bury their enemies.
The location was inspired by the so-called Zone of Death legal theory, which states that a 50-square-mile stretch of Yellowstone National Park that lies within Idaho, which only accounts for about one percent of the massive park.
Some legal scholars believe that it is technically possible to commit murder or other crimes within that small area because of the particular jurisdiction, as the accused are guaranteed a right to a trial by a jury of their peers, but as no one resides in that area, and the courthouse that would cover matters of that patch of land is located in another state, making it potentially impossible to impanel an appropriate jury.
Without hearing of a visit to the 'train station,' Wilson was able to feel more relaxed about her character's fate.
The singer–songwriter joined Yellowstone in the first episode of the first half of season five playing an aspiring country singer named Abby.
It marks her first acting role, and Wilson said that Sheridan crafted a character with similarities to her real life to help her portray the character.
'[He] said he wanted me to pretty much be myself, which is a dream come true, especially when you’re trying to introduce yourself to people,' she said.
However, she admitted that Sheridan kept her in the dark on most of the events her character would be involved in, but that gave her more freedom to develop the character herself.
'All I got from him at that time was that I would play a musician who would fall in love with one of the boys. He didn’t even tell me which one,' she revealed.
Although he may have Sheridan was tight-lipped about Abby's journey, Wilson sounded confident that he has an elegant solution for wrapping up Yellowstone with the second half of its fifth and final season.
'I laugh and say, "They didn’t take me to the train station," so, we’ll see what happens on that end,' she shared, referencing the code name for a deserted canyon where the Duttons kill or bury their enemies
Wilson, who got her first major acting role on Yellowstone, revealed that co-creator Taylor Sheridan wrote it specifically for her by making the character Abby an aspiring country singer
Wilson said she had talked to Sheridan 'the other day' and that 'there's a plan' for the show's end, though she doesn't know what it is yet; seen with Kevin Costner in 2018 in Pasadena, California
'I talked to Taylor Sheridan the other day and there’s a plan,' she said. 'Now we just gotta see if that plan happens.'
Wilson's character Abby has lately been starting a romance with Walker (played by Ryan Bingham), so there's a good chance their relationship will be probed more in the show's final episodes.
She made it clear to Sheridan that she was on board for the show's end, though her day job might make scheduling difficult.
'I told [Sheridan], I said, "Give me the green light," we gon’ be smack dab in the middle of touring, but we’ll figure it out,' she shared.
