'My hair is an elaborate illusion:' Jon Cryer admits he's almost bald and explains the process he goes through to hide it
His elaborate mane from Pretty in Pink is one of the most famous hairstyles on the big screen.
But Jon Cryer, 48, has revealed that his days of having luscious locks are long gone, claiming he only has ‘four or five hairs’ on his head and the rest is an ‘elaborate illusion’.
After chat show host Conan O’Brien referred to Pretty in Pink, saying: ‘You had crazy hair in that movie,’ Jon revealed his secret, explaining: ‘This is an elaborate illusion.’

He went on to add: ‘This is the work of several talented professionals making the most of like four hairs.
'It's amazing, actually, what they can do. I'm not wearing a piece or anything like that, but it's a long involved process that starts with stuff like shoe polish, basically, that they coat your scalp at the top.
‘They basically just paint -- they get a roller type thing -- and just whoosh along the top.’

Relaxed: Despite once trying to hide his baldnesss, Jon is now happy to be open about it
Referring to John Travolta’s famous widow’s peak, he continued: ‘You have to decide if you're going to go full Travolta and get the full front in.
'And then they literally sprinkle powder in from a salt shaker. So this is, like I said, four or five hairs in total.’
A fascinated Conan then asked Jon what happens when it rains.

‘You're out of luck,’ Jon laughed. ‘It flattens out and you can get the nice little rivulets going down.
'But thankfully, your eyebrows will channel it down the side.’
Never afraid to make fun of himself, Jon also opened up about having to wear Spanx on a recent episode of Two And A Half Men.
Open: While he disguises his baldness for work and awards shows, Jon doesn't mind revealing it in his free time
‘If I had known that full body Spanx existed, I never would have gone to the gym,’ he joked.
Jon went on to explain how he coped with having to wear it, admitting it was a humiliating experience and the crew had to cut him out between takes in case he passed out.
He said: ‘It basically envelops you in neoprene plastic. They’re incredibly tight, made of thick rubber.

'Any fat that you do have on your body shoots out of where you don’t have the rubber which is super attractive.
‘Plus they’re so tight you can’t get them off without the help of another human being which is humiliating. They were so tight that you can start losing consciousness.
'People would race in after a take to cut me out. They were like the Nascar pit crew with the fire extinguishers.’
