    THE WALTZ

UNDER THE section, The Form of the Waltz, beginners will find the simple and basic steps of the Waltz that are necessary for anyone who desires to become a better than average dancer.

However, for the more advanced student, here is the Swing Waltz.

    THE SWING WALTZ

THIS DANCE combines the beautiful movements of the Waltz with the Waltz Clog, or Waltz Tap. It is not a step. It is a full dance that takes the regular order of its steps from beginning to end. Although any part of the dance may be used, it is not a Swing Waltz unless this order of steps is carried out.

Start with the regular Waltz posture, holding your partner loosely, and at a sufficient distance to allow unimpeded movement.

    1. Starting with the left foot, do four regular Waltz steps, using the Right Waltz Turn in conjunction with each Forward Waltz Movement.

    2. At the end of this figure, the man swings his partner to his right side, so that they are standing sidewise to each other, and both facing in the same direction. They do the Forward Waltz Movement, clogging at each step, and repeat backward, also emphasizing each step with the Clog.

    3. The man then steps in front of his partner, still both facing the same way, and both step forward with the right foot, bodies inclining in that direction. The weight is thrown on the foot making the motion. The left is then slid sidewise, alongside the right, the body coming upright. Count 1,
