Hayley writes from the beautiful Sunshine Coast in Australia, usually with a cat perched on her keyboard. She has a background in archaeology and has published books in multiple genres before turning her hand at crime to win The Kindle Book Review Reader’s Choice Award and the Scarlet Stiletto's HQ Fiction 'Best Thriller' category.

The 'Lady Vigilante' Crime Series is a fast-paced, action-filled adventure that juxtaposes the quintessential 'Avon Lady' against the chauvinistic underbelly of 1940's New York. This series has been selected as a finalist in numerous international novel and screenplay awards, and a podcast of the series is currently in production.

When she's not writing or spending time with her husband and three children, Hayley

This book relies on a lot of scientific knowledge, so I guess the most important part of the process was doing a lot of research as I wrote. I wanted to make sure I had the underlying facts right and up to date - which meant numerous revisions over the eight years that I wrote it. Research is always being updated, which is awesome, but frustrating too! The most important thing I remind myself when I'm writing SciFi is that it doesn't need to be technologically possible (yet), but it does need to be plausible. In other words, one day, scientists could figure out a way to make it happen. (As opposed to writing fantasy, which is a little different, because anything can be justified using 'magic' instead). So that plausibility forms the basis of where I took Ivy with regards to time-travel, communication with the hobbits (which will be revealed in the sequel 'Extinct') and the environmental issues as well.
The book changed a lot over the period I wrote it and Ivy's character evolved a lot too (no pun intended). The essence of what I wanted to achieve with Ivy's story has always been consistent, but I guess, it took me a long time to learn how to tell the story better. At this point, it makes writing Ivy's sequel so much easier - she has a rock solid foundation to continue growing from. The most enjoyable part of writing though, is always just the writing. Getting a character out of your head and on to the page, so other people can share it. Best job ever. (less)

Radio Interview 90.3 ABC Coast FM

I had the pleasure of being interviewed by 90.3 ABC Coast FM on Friday the 8th of March for International Women’s Day!

For anyone that missed it, here’s a recap of my radio interview. It was lovely to chat about the colouring book with senior producer Alex Easton. I haven’t done a radio interview before, so hopefully I don’t sound too silly 😅

Mrs. Betty Jones by Hayley Camille
"I, BETA and ARC, read for many authors. I have over one dozen author on my list. Needless-to-say, I get to read many prequels in many series. Some work well. Some don’t work at all. Most are flawed. Hayley Camille with Mrs. Betty Jones, Lady Vigilant" Read more of this review »
