Kailey Bright is a fantasy YA fiction author and computer scientist, which means she writes code during daylight and writes about fantastical worlds under starlight.

Tired of YA stories where protagonists suddenly get secret, plot-helpful powers, Bright seeks to write powerful and ambitious stories about characters who persevere with and through disadvantages. Her books are meant to positively impact readers who struggle with challenging societal norms and cultivating inner growth.

When she’s not tanning under her computer screen’s glow, Kailey enjoys winning at mediocre bowling and drinking coffee at every opportunity.

Maas is insane for this and I love it

The writing is incredibly strong in this entry. Tamlin's evolution is so natural and believable, I often found myself catching up with Feyre's exact thoughts as they're happening. Her despondence, depression, and

Uglies by Scott Westerfeld
"Decided to reread Uglies since the movie comes out in a few weeks. It wasn't bad but I can tell it's been over a decade since I read it in high school. I didn't remember as much as I thought I would but that's okay. Now, I'm refreshed and excited to " Read more of this review »
The Heir by Kiera Cass
"I hated it.

The trilogy (as I will from here on out refer to the first 3 books - as I'm going to pretend this book in the series and next to come cease to exist) of The Selection, The Elite and The One read like a passion project. Like Kiera Cass had " Read more of this review »

Let Levana say f*ck

I'm fortunate enough to read this after reading the main series. I've noticed that those who read in strict publishing order often did not have a good time with this book, and honestly, I'm sure I would have been the same back in 2

There are some books that I need to read so insistently that I run to B&N before my library can give it to me. This is one of those books.

I absolutely loved the mystery at play here and how revelations pile on top of each other as the story progresse

“I could kill you right now.”
“What would that change?” he asked. “Both of us dead?”
Kailey Bright, Unity

“Look how pathetic you are—all alone.”
Despite his appalling breath and disturbing taunt, my mind—free of his influence—drifted to the Flower Festival. Making a misshapen basket next to a pretty girl wearing a purple butterfly outfit when she said that no one truly does anything alone.”
Kailey Bright, Unity

“I really was just an ordinary girl doing what she thought was right and what others thought was ridiculous.”
Kailey Bright, Unity

“If I loved you less, I might be able to talk about it more.”
Jane Austen, Emma

“Open your eyes and see what you can with them before they close forever.”
Anthony Doerr, All the Light We Cannot See

“I'm in love with you," he said quietly.

"Augustus," I said.

"I am," he said. He was staring at me, and I could see the corners of his eyes crinkling. "I'm in love with you, and I'm not in the business of denying myself the simple pleasure of saying true things. I'm in love with you, and I know that love is just a shout into the void, and that oblivion is inevitable, and that we're all doomed and that there will come a day when all our labor has been returned to dust, and I know the sun will swallow the only earth we'll ever have, and I am in love with you.”
John Green, The Fault in Our Stars

“I have a strange feeling with regard to you. As if I had a string somewhere under my left ribs, tightly knotted to a similar string in you. And if you were to leave I'm afraid that cord of communion would snap. And I have a notion that I'd take to bleeding inwardly. As for you, you'd forget me.”
Charlotte Brontë, Jane Eyre

“You do not know how fast you have been running, how hard you have been working, how truly exhausted you are, until somewhat stands behind you and says, “It’s OK, you can fall down now. I’ll catch you.”
Taylor Jenkins Reid, The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo
